They have defently sorted the scoring out now!!!

The top three places were very close, and then the next couple of places were also close!

I don't think I've seen a grin as big as Sams as after he drove the last stage..he was one happy chappy!!

Here is my opinion (2cents) from a spectators point of view of the weekend.

The access tracks were an issue with me until I found out about "the back way". Getting in on Saturday was fine, but it was hairy getting back saturday arvo. Sunday I went the back way and it was easy.

The area had been prepared very well tho, nice clearing all ready taped out for parking etc, was well setup.

The first course was a tad boring, but it definetly got better from there. Geeing up BJ on the last ledge of the weekend was a lot of fun! He's such a crowd whore Overall, it was a very good event. It moved quite quickly, if someone broke, they just moved them out of the way and got the ball rolling rather than try and recover them out of the scene totally, cudos to the organisers on doing that.

Letting the drivers design the later courses worked out excellent as well.

I think Rover Park has some huge potential for the future. I found the facilities excellent, especially if you have kids. I put my vote in now to have the next outerlimits weekend there.

Spectator wise...better than the last round...so two arms up!

I argee totaly ,the park was set up well for all people . to rover park . as for the event it self best wheelin i've ever done , to the outerlimits crew and dave for settin up the course's . stage 2 / 4 totaly wild

Yes Myself and Sam took stage one in the Snot Lux,
Bj and Smithy took Stage 2 in the rockrail,
Sam and Myself in the Lockless monster took both 3 and 4.

I broke the rear transfer case input shaft on Stage 3 while trying to move the rear across in 2wd and the front transfer in Low Range and rear transfer in High so i could get 2wd. I was in 2nd gear and side stepped the clutch at about 5thousand RPM and it sounded just like it jumped out of gear. Was then towed up river a little and left there for the rest of the day with the water flowing around it. Gave me some time to wash it though

The weekend was fantastic and again the NSW boys showed how keen they were to fix their rigs all night again
Rover Park would have to be the best 4wd park i have been to and its only been open 1 year. It can only get better.

Anyway im off to work so i will try and post some more about the event tonight.

The rockrail went well, don't get me wrong. And I would really like to thank Sam and the boys for getting it to where it is. But I was just so hoping to place. To put it in perspective, one less red hat and I would be in second.
I am disappointed with my performance, because I was hell bent on winning. Apparently I got 135 points in the first course. Which means I did awesome on all the later tracks. Not that it matters. I dont think there is any beating Sam. Not now, not ever!

Oh well. There is always Q-Rock, which is shaping up to be big this year.

BJ, I'm not trying to be rude or insult anyone here, but I think your spotter let you down a bit, especially on the 1st course. I was cringing watching you drive thinking "watch that cone!" and then you'd hit it...

Just needs more experience I guess?

But, all that said and done, you did bloody well, and I'm sure things will only get better for you.

My spotter and the cones He is a cone pullin surfer from way back. He is a top guy and races sail boats, he is something like 3rd in Australia and is off to the worlds in Mexico soon. In sailing you just gotta get throught the gates and rubbing is racing. A little more practice and he will be as good as they get!

Need to bulk him up a fair bit though, him pulling on the rockrail is like a tinny towing the Titanic, ain't gonna happen.

That said, I am more than happy with what he did, and pleased at his performance. Not only that, on the sunday morning, he could barely stand up and was physcally spewin from all the piss he drank, so he was not in fine form! He did awesome I reckon. Love his work!! Then he drove us home in his patrol aswell! I would make him spot for me anytime!

When he is in Mexico I might get big nev, or chaddy to carry the rig around the course for me!

dont' be dissappointed bj, you, closely followed by sam on the 2nd stage (sitting on the edge of that ledge, all 4 tyres lit up, talking to the crowd "i think it needs more clearance" ), put on an awesome show for the crowd. plus, u were the only one (correct me if i'm wrong) to drive the crack

It really was the best XRCC we have had so far. The courses that were set were really good especially the 2nd, 3rd and 4th courses. These had a good balance of technical stuff, drop offs and some difficult climbs and in these courses most of the manouvering was to get good lines onto the climbs and dropoffs as opposed to just dodging cones which was excellent.

For me the highlights was the last double stepup on course 3. We walked that course and thought with the spacing of the ledges (about smack on wheelbase) and the size (2-3 foot high each) it was going to be a tough obstacle. With my wheelbase I sort of half fitted on the intermediate ledge so I just idled the front up and crawled forward till I had both sets of wheels on the faces and then just lit them up full noise to se if it would wiggle and smoke its way up. Sort of worked but got cocked around sidways and when the front came up I hit a cone. I then just backed up about a foot and gave it a bit of a launch and it poped up easily. Should have done this the first time.

Rob came out in the rockrail and tried the smoke them up approach with no success so he backed it up about 3 feet and got on it. The rig hit both steps up at the same time and would have poped up into the air about 4 feet but actually moved forward a foot also and the wheels actually touched the top of both step ups. The call came out to do the same thing again but to keep on the throttle which Rob did and as it punched into the air and landed on the top edges of both stepups it scrabled out.

Adrian in the POS did the exact same thing.

Mick in the mogrover also did the same thing although with the linked font end and the heavy mog diffs got about a foot more air and basically just punched straight up and sidways and took out te LHS cone.

Jamie (Fourwheelin) made us all look stupid and drove it easily with his SWB zook.

Beebee had incredible drive on this obstacle after a heap of failed attempts both driver and spottor got out and stacked a few rocks and with one last full throttle attempt drove the double step up.

Humphey got there as well but nowhere near as much throttle as BJ with the shorter WB in his cruza.

Rod dirt drove it hitting a cone and could learn hiw to use more throttle.

Cheeze broke and Gonads holed a 44.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Damage incurred on that double step up was 1 rear tailshaft and a bent (but usable) rear spring hanger. I tried to drive home on the tailshaft but couldn't go above 40 km/h so I swapped it out for a spare.

Thanks Ruff and Hans & Heidi (owners of Rover park) for giving me fuel to get back to Tentefield.

I had a great weekend. Was definately the best fun I've had in a very long time. Definately the most impressive I've ever been with my rig and my driving. The biggest difference for me was driving with and exo cage and having a quality spotter. Both those I owe to Greg (1madengineer) as he was around at my place every night last week till about 11-12pm to get the exo done and backed it up with great support throughout the weekend.

I'll definately be there next round thanks to the free entry I scored from MMM - thanks.

Lastly, I think my score was about 540 which included 400 for the second stage as I didn't drive it due to performing a clutch replacement. So 140 is pretty good for 3 stages. From looking at the other's scores, I've come to the conclusion that my effort was quite respectable

Oh yeah - and I was the only one to drive there vehicle there and back..... albeit slowly

At least Sam wasnt hundreds of points away this time. He still had a lead, but everybody is catching him up.... (hopefully) Although I suspect once he gets a bit more seat time He can only get better.

That is one cool rig, and one a BUDGET too!

Did you use a spare diff off the green cruiser??

Yeah it was previously cracked by the looks of it. I have got it all back together again and will carry a spare input with me because i should be able to fix this if it snapes again on the trail in around 1-1.5hrs. Its heaps easier than an output shaft.

Im also currently talking to Marlin about going to a 23spline input so depending on price i may go this way or just install a LT230 behind the front case. Its a fairly simple conversion once a hilux T case has been there but this setup cases a few other problems. Yours will only be slightly harder due to the output on the Auto.

At the moment i will just see how it goes and if i get another 6months out of this set up i prob wont bother changing.
