Outer Limits 4x4 Board

If you are not doing a chassis extension as per this kit. You can make your own plates and bolts or as i have done move the rear mount back and use longer shackles.

What sort of steel have people used to do the chasi extension?
Have you guys cut the chasi at angles to weld on the extra bit or just straight?
Is the chasi extension just butted up to the chasi or is it sleeved over?
Do you need to run a pipe between the extension pieces like the factory one (I have seen Dewses is like this)?

i think mild steel is the best option as it bends before it cracks... probably an advantage, especially on the front end!

all the extensions ive seen are a box tube welded to the end of the chassis, forming an extra, final rail at the front - the width of the box determines the extension. should be plenty strong, however if you were fussy i spose it wouldnt be too hard to reinforce with angled bits and the like.

I used mild steel. Welded straight then fish plated on a angle.
