i think you dudes are gonna have to get someone else to sort out all the details for you. from what i understand sam and his missus have just had another kid, and his business is flat out, so i can't imagine him throwing too much time at this.

You need to verify numbers, sort out some insurance (run it as a suzuki club trip, that way it is already paid for), advance book some portaloos, and nominate someone to go over it all with cal, so he knows what is going on.

this should be an awesome weekend for you guys, but if you just keep talking about it and don't get the bullshit sorted out up front, it just won't happen.

Hopefully grimbo or love_mud will be able to clarify this - but i think at our club meeting the outcome was that we wouldn't be able to use club insurance for some reason...

Unfortunately wh the way our club is setup and the insurance we have we wouldn't be able to run it as a club trip as it gets into a grey area with associate members etc. The only way i believe for it happen woul dbe if everone going would have to become fully paid members which is $60 ish each. There is also the problem with it being on private property that negates certain aspects I think.

I was under te impression that cal would have to have public liability to open hi sproperty up for hire.

It really is sad that insurance issues can determine the success of an event. It really should come down to the users in this case us takung responsibilty for ourselves. if we damage our cars or ourselves it is our own stupid fault, of course if there are things like open mine shafts hidden amongst the boulders or killer attack bears roaming the paddocks that's another story

Hang on - how does it work when people go driving normally - i.e. if i met up with someone outside of a club and went driving in toolangi - would we be covered or not? how does that work?

club insurance is only good for a club organised trip and then only for paid up club members. So if you went with a mate not in the club you would be on your own in regards to insurance.

To be honest i don'y really know what the club insurance actually covers. In this day and age i seriously doubt if the insurance companies would even come to the party in a dispute.

getting everyone to join the club for $60 will be way cheaper than dividing up the costs for insurance cover for this event. and if you check your insurance docs, i am sure you will find that you are covered on private property. that is a big part of the reason clubs have always had their own insurances. cal doesn't have public liability for this because he isn't hiring the place out for you to use. it is there for you to use for free, but you have to cover your own costs.

insurance for a weekend long event (we have looked into it) runs to about $2800, so even if you have 40 people come along, it is still cheaper to get everyone to join the club. then you are covered to run several trips a year, if you have any woking components left on your vehicle after the first one.

Our club meeting is next week so we will bring it up and see what is what. It would be great for our club obviously plus it then gives the added benefit that other events can be planned and insurance is already covered. Also means people are members of an affiliated club which helps for entry to certain events, cheaper vehicle insurance thru TCIS and club discounts at certain suppliers.

So what do people think about swelling the numbers of the Suzuki 4WD Club of Victoria?

can you join as many different clubs as you like ? or do clubs frown on that type of thing ( as im joinning the jeeptraction club later this week ) and would also like to join a zook specific club !

you could run it as a combined trip, but you will need to fulfill the rules for each club, ie: it will have to be advertised within each club, and there will need to be a registry present for the members of each club to sign in on.
