Thanks to Dave and Greg and all the volunteers for organising a great day. Where else for $20 can you go and race your mates legally. Mud run had its issues but there was a lot of work going into getting it right. Unearthing the power cable was just bad luck. Barrel racing on the grass was a heap of fun. A huge crowd seemed to enjoy all the events. Fireworks were great.See you at the next one.Brian

It was awsome having a go but theres no way you could call that well organised. The club boys did te best they could but ask them they were dumped in it with no time to prepare a shit deep mud pit that needed 20 ton of mud dug out before any car could get through, two pits were too diferent one hard one easy, started late, wasted too much time towing cars and there was no communication.

demo dave had some others to run it but they decided to pull out at last minute and left him hanging so i agreed to help i agree it was a shit fight at the end but after getting electric shock from mud my left leg is still feeling weird how ever me and dave are already looking at another event only this time as a teams event with 5 or 6 events which will be based on average club vehicles i.e 37s as max tyre and handicaped starting pending on engine the events will include , travel ramp, water hole course, mud drags, barrel race and 2 more as a suprise we are looking at a weekend with entertainment on sat night as we work it out more i will post it and give 3-6 months notice and will be looking out for bigger sponsors for better prizes and no other events to disrupt us thanks for being patient on the night cheers GREGnathandi7 wrote:It was awsome having a go but theres no way you could call that well organised. Yeh it was a little scrappy with the running but all in all was a fun night and had a ball fanging the jack around.You learn from your mistakes so can only get better for next year.I dont think vehicle mod limits would be good either and i dont mind mixing it with the bigger trucks,people love big trucks with big lifts to watch

you will also limit your possible turn out.
handicaps pending on engine is also stupid, my 4.0L was keeping up with the 7.5L Ford all depends on the application!!

The handicapping is not such a bad idea, but it needs to be VERY well thought out.

if you look at the american mud drags (from what ive seen on DVDs) people arent there to watch a lada niva on 29's. they want to see a massive F truck on 54s.

I agree with DRS.Dont have classifications or limits if everyone knows up front that there are no mod limits then they know up front wether they want to compete with the bigger trucks or not.Myself i like mixing it with the bigger trucks and size doenst matter its how you drive it,as i got through the harder lane without any hassles in my jackaroo and a few of the big boys got stuck

the only reason of thinking about limiting to 37s is with the grounds it would be hard to make other tracks to cater for bigger tyres we have 1 section where we have previously dug down approx 4 ft and had water based tracks and if we can organise it so bigger trucks have a hard time aswell then so be it but i beleive willow glen is limited to tyre size of 37s as well at the moment these are only ideas and trying to get smaller cars in on the fun i love watching the bigger cars aswell but is it entertaining watching big cars do it easy and constantly watching smaller ones get dragged out some have to use there 4x4 as a daily driver aswell i dont care as owning 2 4bys and also 2 other cars it doesnt affect me or my wifes daily routine if 4bys are broken so i am also trying to do the best i can with what we have any good ideas i am open to listen i have been thinking about a percentage handicap similar to the overall scoring at nissan trials there for there would be no limits
i would be looking at running this as a teams event of 3 cars +1res+team manager maybe ??? it would be 12pm-6pm sat 8-1 on sun with entertainment starting at 6 on sat night plenty of room to camp we are currently looking at march-may next year ? all entrys would have to be in by 1st week in feb and have been thinking there should be no probs with bigger tyres if we run a % handicap starting at 35s thru to whatever but only on other tracks and split drag track in 3 catergories on engine size so lets hear your thoughts and throw up some numbers on whose keen i will work within reason on any ideas i can be contacted on 0413728498 as only on computer 2-3 times a week

you wouldnt have to dig down 4ft to make it challenging for big trucks.
as shown at TTC, if you dig it out then have a step up etc its hard.
but are you trying to make it challenging or a "drag"??
or have 1 stage of each?
if you had some vertical steps getting higher as tracks go on and do it on points that would sort out trucks progressively??
then have your drag lines? maybe one shallower for stock rigs and one deeper for modified rigs?
just 2c.

we are looking at 4 tracks plus drags and travel ramp this is why we are looking at classes as some people want to have fun and stick to there budget we are not ruling out big cars but if you make it more enjoyable for the average cars then they have more fun and are more likely to build thier cars bigger for future comps........ so we are trying to make it challenging for 4 tracks and fast for 1 maybe this is where you are getting confused as you are refering to it as 1 track ???DIRTY ROCK STAR wrote:you wouldnt have to dig down 4ft to make it challenging for big trucks.
