Go the turbo....nothing beats the look in ppl faces when they are burnt off at the lights by a sleeper - except for the BOV...plus your motor is ready for the turbo being carbie feed..I am doing this conversion myself I am just waiting for the front mount tanks to be put on....cheaper and I get fuel injection a quieter motor, cheaper exhaust..(dump pipe only!
), cheaper, less injectors to replace, cheaper rego, for me an extra $14/year to insure @ 25 and you don't have to mix and match radiator hoses, a/c lines, accel cable, transmission match ups, etc ,etc, etc if you really want a V8 go an infinity - 4.5ltr fuel injected and it bolts up to a nissan auto..but it leaves f**k all room in the engine bay.

the VH45 you mean? leaves no room? Kyle had a good 6-12inches from motor to radiator in his.

he also has a supercharger sitting there waiting to be put on if the need arises once the motor is worn in. That would push 300 at the wheels in a shorty on 35's

not really usable space though. the inner guards have to get cut right back to route the exhaust, just leaving enough room for all the ancillary stuff. they genuinely use the entire width of the engine bay.

Go the TB42 mate. its already in the car so you dont have to engineer a thing. chuck on a injected head off a later GQ. Fit a Ballbearing turbo or supercharger pushing boost through a monster front mounted intercooler. You could get away with it for 10grand i reckon. Dave hickman runs one in his wagon and he reckons it pulls hard from 1000 revs. take a stock gen 3 in the bush and probably on the rd to.

I wouldn't have a problem using a Gen 3 V8 as i have a commodore with one running 238kw at the rear wheels and it has not missed a beat in 4 years or used a drop of oil. The car is maintained very well but driven hard and even raced a couple of times so there realiability is exceptional from my experience. My concern with putting it in a 4x4 is it is a very peaky engine with poor low down torque, you would have to change the cam to improve that, and electronics are very vunerable to water so submerging it durung river crossings would be a risk.

have you considered an rb25dett reasonably cheap 210 odd kw factory heaps of aftermarket gear, 5-6k should give you heaps of grunt and they are very reliable
