No idea how old they are. Dont think they're that old (as in manufatured). If i remember over the weekend i'll check the date stamp on them for you.

I'm picking up a set of 33's next week - so that should drop my freeway 2800 RPM down a few hundred with luck.

Are your rims 15 or 16"

Was looking at a set, and still considering getting a set, and saw that you can get a

33 X 10.5 X 15

35 X 11.5 X 15

35 X 10.5 X 16

This is what the site indicates anyway. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

dont_follow_me wrote:what pressures are you guys running in the 35 inch claws?

sidewall says max of 35psi at full load so how much would I need just for getting around without much weight.

I am particulary interested in hearing from GQ owners with claws as it may be dependant on vehicle weight (ie sierra Vs patrol would be quite different pressures)
True .. I used to run my 35 bias claws at 3 psi front and 2 psi back on my sierra.

Im running 35 maxxis creepy crawlers on a shorty with 3 inch spring and 2 inch body, tend to scrub a little inside the rear guards when fully flexed, looking at bigger offset rims and an extra inch spring

the MT Baja Claws are on and took them out on the weekend for a test.

I have had Cooper STT's and BFG Muddies and I reckon, and this is just my opinion so dont flame me, but the baja's out perform them both on rocks and in mud.

I am very happy with them and they have great traction at about 18psi

heres some pics for ya's

Image
the bottom was quite silty and soft

Image
nice grip

Image
its getting deeper

Image
climbed out of here with no problems..others couldn't

Image
picked this little treat up climbing out of the above pic

all in all I am very happy with them. the overall gearing is okay and I can live with it for a while but 4.6's are on the 'to do' list

cheers

edit- the pics came up a bit small, will try to enlarge them...

whatever choice you make for a tyre, its a good idea to have a set for play and a set for road.

i have a few sets of 35's that i alternate for road/ track.

if you have 1 set of rubber, you waste heaps of the rubber on the road, when you go 4wding you are left with a substandard tyre.

If you have 2 sets, you will always have a newish set of tyres to play on, and when your road rubber wears out, you buy a new set for the trails and use your old set on the road.

btw i rate Bias baja claws for play tyres :)

Good when you can afford it!!

When I had the Mav' I ran 35" MT/R's and never had an issue. I competed in the first year of Tough Tracks and never had a problem, gripped well when pressures down to 10 psi and NEVER rolled one off the rim. It was a daily driver and tyres went well.

Well put.

also well put. but when you work it out long term, 2 sets of tires is always cheaper
