yes and yess,
turns out that the bolt isnt broken, i just couldnt thread it good snuff with my fingers. and the alt and steering pump are fine.
the bolt had just vibrated itself loose, causeing a bit of movment of the pump and hence extra strain on a worn pulley...therefore snapping the pully.
new pully/belt, bolt re-tightened and back on the road for a hungy.
