Lots of countries around the world use the Patrol for their military...from the G60 onwards. But of course not as many that use LRs or TLCs.

A country with its defence foundations built atop a ZD30......

Actually we just sold 1200 Mercedes G-wagons to the Aussie army
The Patrols are mainly used for the military police as the "Wolf" SWB G-wagens are too small and the VW vans don't cut it off-road. The even get them with OME suspension etc.
As for the ZD30 comment, I haven't seen any belly up since the first batch.
It could be worse, they could've bought LR Defenders
In Spain they still use, and built for the Army only, a MQ variant

They run the TD27 in those nowadays. Used to run the A2.8 4-cyl.

I couldn't possibly see them doing it any other way.
Fingers crossed they make the chassis compatible with the current GU live axle setup.
I like my utilitarian GQ. Sh1t, even a GU is too fancy looking for me, let alone one of the new POS patrols.
x2 - a tidy GQ can be bought for between $4-11k here now and that includes a td42t safari in lwb or swb when they come up...at that price you could just about justify buying one to put away for future use. I like the gu's but we don't see them on the track much, maybe a bit too flash to bash around. I did a random 'interclub' trip to the West Coast of the South Is a few months ago....9 trucks...1 x l/cruiser - 8 x gq's

Safari's are cheap as over there mate, and thats the reason, although I think we should be allowed to import more stuff ex-Japan...

that is a sick picture of the military MQ/MK! LWB 2-door, no top, wimpy factory roll bar, detachable windshield, full floating rear diffs....just sick! Would make a cool truck to build into an off-road weapon.

Good spotting. Thats one thing that would make patrol diffs better and inderstuctable

What are they running on the front? Auto locking hubs? They look awfully low....

Front is fixed hubs, no auto's.
As for being low, the MK/MQ was a belly dragger since it's birth.
BTW, did you guys ever got the factory fleetside MQ ute ?
They're all over the place in southern europe. Spotted this one in Cannes, France the other day:

I dont think we got the one-piece style-side utes, however we did get the cab chassis with a separate ute tub (so you could unbolt the tub and put a tray on).

The ones we have here are made in Spain, so it would be interesting to know if the fleetside one-piece ute was also made in Japan. We never got the cab chassis variant over here though.

Yeah but they will thin out soon, the collar and ties tightened up the regulations for importing from Japan so I'm sure they can't be brought in any more pre98 or 2002 or something i'm not sure.

why doesnt nissan just keep the GQ body and put the 4.2 diesel (and turbo) and 4.8 petrols in em?? those engines all go awesome and the GQ's look way better than this spaced out heap of shit!!! i say every nissan owner in Australia calls em up and tells em to put a real car together again!!

That is the truth alright, especially for an LWB. There is ways to fix it though....Mine is no longer a belly dragging SOB, even though we have stretched the 93" wheelbase to 113"!
I like the different Spain Utes. Pretty cool actually. Factory soft top SWB MQs are also real cool!
Hell I just like Patrols!!

Just got news from my Nissan dealer, who is one of the best informed when it comes to Patrols and Nissan 4x4's in Germany.
The Y62 will be avail. with the following engines:
4.0 V6 petrol
4.8 V8 petrol
3.0 V6 dCI Diesel (195 KW / 405NM)
It will still be body on frame and live axles front and rear !
6-spd auto and manual, LR-like terrain response system and all-mode 4x4 will be avail. as well.

I mentioned the "new" patrol to my mate who works at a nissan dealership a few weeks ago. He went off on some big tangent saying how the Nissan boss (national) had sent a memo or email out just a few weeks earlier saying not to listen to any rumours about the V6 diesel etc etc etc.
Apparently nothing was in the pipeline and nothing had/has been confirmed in regards to ANY of the new model specs, and that there basically wasn't a "new model" coming in the near future.

There is a guy that works for Nissan in Europe somewhere that is on one of the Navara forums and he has a letter from Nissan stating that production of the Nissan Patrol will stop all together!
The letter sounded legit but ya never know. Could be a Euro thing only too I guess.
Nothing like the net to stir up a bit of interest anyway.

well if it has a solid front and rear then I really hope they bring it to the USA!
Not super excited about the engines but the diesel sounds promising, so does a 6spd.
If it does land in the USA and if it does have solid axles I will buy one and cut the ugly ass body panels off it! Then the mods will start!
