285's are RRP $427 now since the Nov Price rise. Can get 285's for $350 though. I think he said $460 for 315 RRP
Still no complaints with mine, went up the vic high country weekend before queens bday with a mate who drives a GU ute - I'm in a GQ LWB, both TD42 - his has a turbo mine doesn't, so fairly similar vehicles, he also had an 80l water tank and both fuel tanks full under tray, so not too light in the rear - he's running 265/75/16 MTZ's i'm on MT/R's - same size.
Anyway, went down through pykes flat to go up corn hill logging track, i drove through the bog hole at the bottom, almost got stuck but pulled through ok - dirty...
On the way up corn hill i went first and didn't really have any dramas, was still at 40psi - mate had already dropped to 25 at the start of the day and about 1/2 way up lost forward progress and had to roll back to a switchback and drop more out around 20psi, he made it but so did I without airing down.
Was 1st low most of the way up with some wheelspin here and there - wet clay mud.
Could be different drivers that made the difference - he's a little more gentle with things than me and maybe just didn't clear the treads.
Either way i'm happy with the mt/r's thus far.

Well I have driven on the new MTR's today.
They are quieter than the MTZ's engine noise is louder than the tyres and they also don't exhibit the "blockiness" where you feel each tread block at low speeds.
They do "growl" a bit like the MTZ's did all the time when pushed hard into a low speed corner, this is when the aggressive blocks on the outer tread hit the road.
So far very good. Enjoying the smooth ride.

Had them on the Triton and have done near 10,000kms.
small amount of wear (about 2mm) and a bit of feathering of the outside blocks- but no chipping.
One thing I'm a bit wary of is the need for correct allignment, due to them being asemetrical, regardless of what you do you cannot get the outside blocks to the inside if you "round" them off due to bad alignment/ camber.
very happy with my choice- noticed on another thread that mentioned they aired down well in sand (bagged) I had the oposite experience where there is little bagging evident at 18psi I've been lower due to conditions (really dry sand at Byfield) down to 12psi. These tyres love sand. Might be the difference in tyre profile/ tyre size.

Still havn't had them in the mud- Brisbane is dry ATM, but gravel roads and rocks/ offroading have posed no problems.
just bought a 'kevlar' set for my disco II 235/85's, quiet on road and handle well too, no off road experience yet, beach this weekend.
had old style mtrs before and loved them (mostly) i've had 285/75's on my defender and loved them in all conditions (don't do mud though) however i've had 33 x 12,5's and they handled like crap and were noise as. at the same time i got 285's on my defender my mate got 33 x 12.50's on his 75 and through the life of the tyres mine handled miles better, i got min. 10K klm's more from them and were way quieter. and his ony saw blacktop and beach as mine were actually wheeled.
keen to see a sticky come out soon though....

Ive had some on my 4runner for a few weeks now and apart from the dodgy bastards that fitted them and then having to replace them free of charge cause of their attempt at covering up and lying i love em.
Havent had a proper mud bash yet but for anything else they are brilliant. Really good on rocks i found compared to older MT i've tried years ago.
Cant comment on wear as yet as i've only done 1000km at the most so far.

Can't wait to get them and give them a run. They will likely become daily driven tyres. Will be mounting them on 16x8" Procomp rockcrawler rims to the JK.

Pretty good considering that I bought my current set of 4 for $1248 ($312ea) on the 24/04/04. Almost 6 years and 100200km's later. To be fair I'd have to remove about 10-15,000km from when I've run other tyres..... holy crap they've done well!
The 315's I thought were cheap at $400
Here we go, pictures from 10mins go. 90,000km and almost 6 year old MTR's. Used as DD, desert touring and moderate tripping.
I ummed and ahhed about replacing them with km2's, but I think I'll go MTR's with Kevlar - when you're on a winning thing.
