Tick tick tick boom on way back from bris airport yesterday.. crazy amount of smoke and ticking noise from motor and motor running absolutley terrible. Boiuncing around at idle like a b#itch.
2 tow trucks an racq wacker and she sitting at nissan... of course out of warranty at 104000km the exact kms my old one had (04) when gearbox blew!! sweet.
Turbo? lifters? pistons? dunno await the good news this morning...
Asked the nissan guy if they had considered making a diesel that might make it to 150000km without a major driveline component blowing up

yes pretty stoked with themachine at the moment, just been told 0 compression in number 2 and turbo will be farked as well as the motor...
Problem is a with it being a company car firstly the boss had he taken extended warranty which for 1100 or whatever is is would have proven to be money well spent on this and the last one..... 2ndly it makes it near impossible to wangle another from the boss now if nissan wont come to the table with good will... but i intend on creating a massive storm if they dont..... As i said to them last time i visit nearly every horticultural farm in qld and nt and if they want me to pass on why i am in a landcruiser now then i shall..... 3rdly cant just put a duramax or chev in the boss's car... options there to buy it off him do it then charge him a vehicle allowance but not good time for me and not really keen to do so..... realistically a new grenande will be going in.... probly being auto does not really help the conversion scenario.... also whatever happens it needs to be quick as hire car will get expensive after a while.
They suggesting retails at $12k to get her going again........

there was a bulk buy on here on genades a while ago <7k...
The other option, I know some dudes who have claimed insurance on motors that have died while wheeling (EG Creek crossing), and had em rebuilt! I'd never thought you could claim a donk on insurance.
anyway, a twin turbo cruiser would be much nicer than a grenade.

under 7 hey, good to know when they try stooge me up there tomoz.. dunno on the insurance thing... not sure my hire camry would do so well at mud bulls....
would love the cruiser but the man who writes the cheques would not....
not really told him yet... he shall be pissed! i have should have taken the san yong ute he wanted to buy me......
maybe even a great wall
i honestly believe anyone with a 3 as i have said all the way along who does not take the extended warranty is an idiot and yes my bossis now for the 2nd time that guy....
just freaky that almost at exact same kms as last one it blew when last time was box.... nissan paid half on it as good will... shall see...
they start playing silly i shall start chasing customers from the showroom floor! gotto do what you gotto do.

Sorry to hear about your ZD30 Bingham, you're now number 137 on "The List".
This list is just engine failures, not any other problems.
Here's a copy below, maybe print it off and show your dealer so they can't say they have never heard of the problem before.

I just printed mate and will add it to my arguement...thanks.. mine one of the latest models. Mine is last of the non common rail ones.. I have work to do till lunch tomoz making mid arvo talks with garry crick nissan warranty folk on the cards. Am ready to fight.. Last time shit it was painfull but got half the result i wanted...
currently getting angrier by the minute...... shits me more the fact that it takes so long to get to talk to the big bosses or warranty etc instead having to start at bottom get no result usually then over his head to state then national etc etc..

The scary thing is that a lot of 06 models will not have got up to 100,000km yet, yours is one of the first to get reported as a blow-up. There seems to be this idea that Nissan fixed it in 03, then 04, then 05, then 06, whatever, but the year it was "fixed" changes as each year model gets a bit older and the kms hit 100-150k and it turns out they were shite as well.
Shame on Nissan for making it hard, they got $50k out of someone when this vehicle was new and it probably costs them only $5-8k to fix it with a new motor (if they can sell them for $7k).

one of my parts suppliers in brissy has an 08 3Lt wagon. he will sell the motor for around $7k. he will have to put a battery in it to check kms but he thinks around 6000kms from memory if that is any help at all.
dont forget I am looking for a donor car to do eng/box/repaint conversion on if anyone wants to sell a cheapy/roughy.

I don't know what you guys do with them but my 05 ZD30 is still powering on after 398,198 hard kms.
My 2003 3L did 408,000 kms and was also still going strong when i sold it.

Nobody's saying they all shit themselves, just that a lot more of them do it than is reasonable.

the nissan dealer just on phone, they have been requested to track down from my mechanic more detailed service records than the service manual including what types of oils used so all should be ok on that part as use a quality reputable workshop that my mate runs. Full service history..... So they are looking into it anyways
as said i could be one of the first later model ones to go so might get better looked after or get more eyes from the big boss's to look at it...
Funny /not funny thing was had been to see the rubber good and put some new boots on it only a few days before and joked with new ones a bit bigger (only 285 whatever whaterer 17) i said the way i drive (like a rep) with the extra rubber she will probly go boom......... i really should have shut my mouth
Put it this way anything short of 100% good will by nissan and i will put up a big fight..
Not really knowing to much mechanicaly different about them but has there been the same issues with the newer again common rail? the common rail part got anything to do with it?

Found the old thread
"The RRP on these units is $9929.00 the price we can do on these is $6798.00 inc GST...
These are the long motors that Nissan supply to supersede the old problem units. "
This bloke this week was quoted $20,000 for a long motor.. Must have diamond pistons!

Implausible at best, 408k, is like 4000k's per week. 560kms per day!!! (EVERY DAY, non-stop) That's possible but HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely.

How could you make it up? your not even real, YOU were made up by bogged to pay out on the guys on that other forum
When he made you up in his mind I wish he would have given you some driving talent, and perhaps a better looking face

Best of luck with it all, its a real shame, as the 3.0L are so cheap now, and ive kinda been looking at them....

i potentially could have got a 4.2 the previous car but none about firstly then wanted auto and they really are to doey at hiway speeds for reping type work unless you want to beef them up somewhat generally at a loss of economy and why spend the cash on a work car. If buying one simply buy one still in warranty and buy extended warranty and should have no worries. When no warranty sell on and upgrade... when it goes it goes well and does well on the road...
Very glad i did not get the chip fitted to it now i looked at 2 months ago.
until tomorrow.................

would anyone be interested in buying me detonated 3ltr, if i get the right price id probably sell it as i got my baby due in the next couple of days and really need to pull my finger out and do something about it :p. prob looking up around the 10k mark with all the gear it had on it.
long range fuel tank, 305/70/r16 atz on alloys, dual battery setup but with no bats, turbo timer, uhf, dvd player, moulded mats through out prob other things.
just a thought, not really fazed if people think its a rip off, will plainly just keep it

Not sure if this has ever been asked but is the 3 litre capable of being made tougher than standard. I mean, if the motors are repaired are the replacement components just off the shelf and in the end just pushing the inevitable destruction time further down the road?
Has any work shop / reco engine company come up with say , a better set of pistons, a modified fix for oil feed, or is just such a bad design that it is incapable of being improved?
I reckon that a business/person could make a fortune if such a kit existed.
