Well lucky I haven't advertised my ute yet.
I got a call from Toyota this arvo.

They are "trying" to get a September or October build slot.
I doubt it will be here till Christmas.

At least they are not saying 2 months, 2 more months, 2 more months.

Lucky its a 20 year old design and won't be any more out of date!

Wonder if the diff locks are what is holding it up? I have seen the odd one in stock around the traps. :?

After the quotes for mine crept up over $70K, I had to put that thing on hold...

Looking at keeping the hilux and buying a 100 series TD cruiser now- Get a decent cruiser for $50K and you get a SHITLOAD more for your money in a tourer.

mine was $66700 with a/c, difflocks, GXL, 12mth QLD rego, and headlight covers.

I agree with 100 series - but needs to be less than 2 years old to lease - so for me it was chip in another 5k and get an ifs petrol 200 series - which are awesome cars, they really are but not solid axle and not ideal for towing the buggy interstate. The back seats are tiny and fold up heaps better then the 100 my old man has.

cheers bru

I took a cab chassis workmate for a test drive the other day, very tempted. Price seems to vary widely, locally I can get a cab chassis workmate on the road for just over 62 big ones. While a dealership in NSW can do a GXL for 60. Going to shop around. In any case, I'll try to get them to throw the A/C in for nix, trying to charge $2500 for air con in 2010 is bordering on criminal.

yeah, leasing isnt really going to be economical for me, so im looking at a longer term loan and going for an 05 or later TD100 series manual.

I just cant see where the extra $20K goes in a brand new 76 series- they are an awesome truck, but about $30K overpriced for what they are.

I agree mate - that's why I started looking at the 200. If it was diesel I would have come up with the extra coin.

That said I owned a bundera and love the simplicity - quicker to clean after beach trips and less for passengers to fark.
Also want to own the last of a dieing breed. After the nissan is IFS its only the 76 or the jeep. No body wants a Jeep ha ha

Or the Defender... but who would want to admit to buying one of those? :finger:
