Blake, Toperi is held about 15mins west of Orange, in a place called Borenore if I remember correctly.
I went to the first one they did 2 years ago and had a great time, the comp was on sat and sun. And I think they ran a track sat nite, I dont remember much about the track, but I do remember a guy getting stuck in his 4B on the track out of the spectaor area, cant remember what he was driving but it was stuck good.
I still see Ant in SuzzyQ going warp speed trying to snatch him out and failing, he ended up getting pulled out by the excavator.
Back on track, when I went, it cost me 50bucks for entry and camping.
I missed last year but I dont want to miss ths years.

In the next month or so.

We will be making some subtle changes to the tracks this year, just to mix things up abit. Some of the changes is to help get some more of you pussy's to track 4. :finger:

because i have a slowmount.
and because winch events blow goats. no penalty = more incentive to winch.
and the crowd love to see someone driving it.

I wasnt at last years Toperi, but was at the first one they did out there.
The camping area was basically on the side of a hill, not steep, and cleared. Lots or room, but no trees around for shade or windbreak.
The year I was there, they had mowed the area just before the comp, and they left the grass laying around which made the ground alot softer to camp on.
There was a fairly muddy incline to get through to get to the camping area, not steep, after all the trucks/car trailers/tilt trays/cars/4x4s going through it got a bit chopped out. I followed a tilt tray through and it was struggling with it.
It was very windy when I was there too, I had to use my lux as a windbreak and all my guide ropes on the tent, and then more ropes. The tent still wanted to blow away.
I know the On All 4s gazebo was stuffed after the friday nights storm, they had to turf it sat morning.
But easy to walk from camping to tracks and back, they had parking for the day stages.

There will be some hardening up required for this years comp after our working bee today.
More work for the drivers and navies.
Some new parts to stages, "Billy Goats" is now 10 metres wide with multiple line choices.
Some new rules, there will be NO snatch recoveries between vehicles, just tree trunk protectors to recover each other. Also we are considering limiting the use of the girly rope, we are thinking 1 free winch for the weekend (all 4 stages) 25 point penalty everytime after that, more emphasis on driving stages.
We will run 2 stages at a time Saturday and Sunday.
I think Glenn took some pics today, he may post some.

May I ask why no snatching and only tree truck protectors can be used ???? was a snatch strap fail last year i didnt hear about ???. Some times just using a tree trunk protector doesnt work cause you need to snatch (if hung up etc...) You will have more driving if you keep this in just make snatching a 10-15 point penilatly

Toperi wrote:we are thinking 1 free winch for the weekend (all 4 stages) 25 point penalty everytime after that, more emphasis on driving stages.
I think your being generous with the free winch, All winching should be penilised i think.... i can see everyone using this free one out of the water hole on track one without trying to drive it and wasting time....

Talking as a spectator I would have to agree with with. Winching is boring. Snatching can make for it being really interesting. Hell, give 'em one free snatch and then penalise the rest with no free winch.

We decided not to allow snatching after the Zuk on stage three went from on all four wheels to completely on its roof under a tree in a split second, because of too much inertia when the vehicle being recovered is really hung up. The use of tree trunk protectors means vehicles are close together, no inertia build up, it will just be a tow to recover the stuck vehicle.

We may yet penalise all winching, but the majority of vehicles will have to winch up the conveyor.

Love the feedback guys.

Chris let's see if he can do it again this yr he want to enter both the willy and the suk
but to answer your question yes we all should have rear steer so we can drive up it sideways and flip it.... Lol

Tony you reasoning behind no snatching is a valid one now you have explained it, thanks mate

Hey not sure if I'm competing this year but if I'm not do you guys need a hand marshelling for the weekend, iv got me ccda marshelling certificate

yeah the waythat zook went over was scarey.
but it seemed more a problem of poor or no communication and the other driver kept on driving.
so is there a length limit to the extension straps? can more then 1 be linked? to gain a length not for momentum as nobody wants to have that jolt.

For those who have asked , rego will still be a requirement for Toperi 2010. Perhaps things may change for next year. There are many reason as to why we are going this way none of which I'm prepared to discuss on a public forum. We understand the difficulties in keeping your 4x4 in a registered and roadworthy condition but at the moment thats the way it go's.
Thanks
Glenn
