Extractors were on. muffler was not. Muffler is bolted up now so that i keep the neighbours happy.

Rear tailshaft turns up this at the end of this week so hopefully it'll be moving under its own power next week.

Ok time for a little update
Front shock hoops in.
Rear driveshaft in.
Rancho 99012's front and rear
Cage Partially installed still need to do the rear braces.

also i have the axles of of the suzana so here are a couple of pics with the difference between the dana's and the stock zook items.

hopefully only a few weeks. i've got 3 weeks off work starting next week, going up to hawks nest for a week, but that still leaves 2 weeks solid to finish the zook.

just gotta put the front clip back on(with a bit of trimming)
finish the track bar.
finish installing the steering.
install some new brake lines.
install fuel cell
then go and wheel it

Sam built the A and the B hoop for me, i just have to assemble the rest.

Dude that cage is looking so sweet! I love the flat bar down the side of the dash, first sore that method on some of the poison spider rigs. The bends really suit the body. Great stuff guys

i've still got to add two braces from the top of the B pillar down to where the rear body mounts used to be. then i can finish off the rest of the back.

Yeah I figured you still had a little to do. So what is your plan for the rear?

those axels are sure beefy compared to standard, hey if u some how manage to break them what will you replace them with as in track side repairs?? causse they were 1 off's from sam wernt they?

i'm not quite sure how i'm going to finish off the rear. the rear bars for the cage will come straight down to the bare chassis. I'm going to have to put some sort of tubed rear on it. I'm open to any ideas people are willing to put up, so post away any photos you have of the tubed rears of zooks.

the diff now has been adapted to take dana side gears, so the axles are a stock item. i have no locking hubs, just an adapter, ie allways locked.
I'm sure sam will chime in at some stage with the exact specs of the front assembley for those that are interested as i'm still a little unsure, and i'd hate to get the specs wrong.

thats sweet so let me get this right the hubs are always lokced in or can be disengaged manually?? bit confused. The cage is lookin good to. Resembles nothing of the former shell it used to be

hubs are allways locked. old school just like the old landy's and others, allways ready to go.

if i rember correct the axels are from a d30 not resplined

so they arnt custom

yeah the axles are completly stock as i was told. the centre has dana side gears in it so that the axle doesn't have to be resplined. the always locked hub means that there is no resplining at the outer end either. if the axle was to go into a zook manual locking hub it would have to be resplined so that it would fit.

Cut the back off mine today am going to do something similar to this

i basically at this point. so i can go many different directions. i was going to run the rear bars straight to the chassis and the tube the back in latter. i figured that this way i would have a strong cage and then i could bo whatever with the back and not have to worry too much about the safety factor. but with the rea bars going straight down the the end of the chassis i'm starting to run out of room. opinions?

Sam, are you still going to have an exo over the cab?

yes i will still run an exo which will join into the back section

Well at the moment I have decided on doing the following. Run the rear bars straight down to the chassis. Then run a smaller bar, starting from the targa bar style line across to the ends of the chassis so that it looks like a tube dove tail. I then plan to cut the original panel competition style. Then pull it across to the bar work and weld on with tabs.

This idea was taken from matt and Micks rigs from M&M engineering and last years UA Toyota

I will try find some photo’s as examples

yeah i've got the 4wd monthly's with both of those rigs i really like micks rig. if you've got anymore photos of the rigs that'd be good.

Do you think you could measure the distance from the dash to the top of the cage. Just out of interest so that I have a rough gauge to go from.

Also what size toob is it that your using?

i'll measure tonight. it has been built to allow me to still run, the windscreen, the targa bar, full doors and a bikini top. so the cage itself is quiet low, if you were tall it'd be fairly tight (but i'm a short arse). the ablitity to put the doors and stuff back on is important to me as i'm in the mountains and the winter wheeling will invole snow and rain.
i think the tube is 1 3/4 inch.

fitted the simex to my newly offset rims last night, bolted them up to the rear today just too see how wide it will be.
With from outside edge of tire to outside edge is 73.5 inchs

need a bigger bus. not sure what yet. either a big 4by or maybe a big sedan, BA XR8 or VY SS.
