Im very happy with the flex i can keep atleast 3 wheels on the ground now most of the time so i dont get stuck as easy as before. It has dropped a fraction only because the spring pack ive got has 2 less leaves in it but it rides wonderfully. I might run lift blocks, but will have to get the traction bar sorted at the same time, but im not all the fussed with the height it worked very well. I just readjusted the handbrake and it works as it did before, the diff went back an inch so this is why it tightens up around the fuel tank. Im running the shocks /\ and im happy with this setup, road handling is fine and it worked well off road, time will tell though.

Put my IFS springs in rear the other night as well, use to run lift blocks, but wasn't happy with effect on handbrake and made it difficult to get to brake adjuster, so thinkin of cutting rear shackle mount of putting in new one with about 75mm drop in rear mount, this will level the car up with the front which runs 75mm dropped front and 2" ext hangers, only thing I'm worried about is angle of rear uni on tailshaft.

just run some 5 degree castor correction plates. i think its a good idea dropping the rear hangers, less axle wrap, can relocate your hanger to bring the diff forward and not have to run super long shackles.

so if u moved the rear spring mounts forward an inch which would also move it down, which would mean the blocks wouldnt hav to be so big, and i could probably use my snake racin extended shackles, which arent as long as the ones we put on badlux's. and would it flex the same, or is it the 200mm ext shackles which provide most of tha flex

u would get more flex, not the same though. the shackles give most of the flex and the fact the spring is longer also gives it more flex. if u wanted to get the same amount with normal rear springs u would need to move the front hangers more than just an inch and would need the longer shackles. i would say it just wouldnt be worth it. and moving the front spring hanger too much in my own mind is just un practible. i would say too much effort to try to get the same result. i have not acturly seen this done before so i can not be sure if it works the same

so wat would be tha difference in usin 200mm ext. shackles or tha snake racin ext. shackles which are roun 50mm shorter, would the angle on tha shackle increase more \ or would it straighten up a bit towards standard. and wat difference in flex would this have

If they are longer than the snake ones, more angle.

i thought that if tha shackle was shorter the angle would increase, eg if u left the standard shackles on wouldnt they be pushed right back towards the rear, and then every time you extended the shackle length the angle would come back slightly

u can, but they will outflex the std lux steering and u will bend or snap the J arm in no time.. normally ifs rears only go in the front once u have done cross over steering.. but in lame mans terms, yes u can.

Drop Bear wrote:Im in the process of doing this myself. I got the proper bushes for the IFS model the spring came out of from Pedders (go to supercheap though). The shackle bushes are 18mm inside diameter, you could use your old pins if you can press them out, but i have opted for 18mm high tensile bolts with nylocks. I could only find greasable pins the stock length, so i have turned these bolts into greasable bolts (im using 10mm bar, stock is 6mm so they will be too short). As for the front mount for the spring, if you take out the sleeve that comes with the bush it will take the stock anchor pin perfectly.

Aza, Bubs... ill take heaps of pics when i put this in and write up a DIY thread on it, your input would be valuable as i havent done this before myself.

Is the DIY thread (with pics!) nearing completeion? Am looking at doing this and it would save me bothering Bubs all the time with Q's....

quick question for you knowledgable people...I know Im draggin up an old thread.....

you guys typically fit the IFS rears with a 200mm shackle....

couldnt you fit a 2" raised IFS rear leave pack and fit a smaller or standard shackle?

I havent dont this mod yet but was wondering if this could be a way of still getting abit more flex without the illegality of the longer shackles being fitted?
