James what happened to your Hilux, we got there and you were being towed away. Then you spent the rest of the time i was there with the bonnet up.

I was pretty disappointed with the event i must say. As a spectator event it got pretty boring pretty quick. It was just cars tearing around wwith a few small obstacles to slow them down.

It's great that Colin has started to do something and it has great potential I reckon but I think it needs to have more variety in events. Maybe have the one high speed event, then change the 2nd one into a more obstacle course with harder bits and no high speed sections.

The 3rd one needs to be better placed with spectators as it seemed to be a gathering point for the cars and not an event.

I reckon add a few more short hard trials style events.

Also the guidance to get in was a little lacking. We came through the tunnel and then it was left to us to figure out where to go from there. Maybe a few signs or attendants guiding people would have been good.

The commentator did a great job of keeping people informed of who was doing what. top job, get him to Tuff truck.

All in all it is an event that has great potential and the organisers need to be commended for getting any sort of event up and running in Vic. I just hope that it can eveolve further into a quality event that can attract a variety of vehicles, not just the high speed winch guys

Finished the car at 3am Sunday morning, loaded onto trailer at 6am.

Ended up with carby issues before we even hit the first mound. Spent the rest of the morning chasing parts, getting it running as best we could. Which wasn't very well.

We completed stage 2 with a lack of power to the engine so we used the starter the whole stage with my navi changing gears. In th end it died on stage 1 and wouldn't start again. Starting a rebuild tonight, should be done sometime next week.

It was only on the track in motion for a while but did anyone get some pics of the unreliable red Hilux?

Bummer.

Did Ben bend his front diff because it sure looked like it was having some weird angles on the front wheels?

The ABT rock buggy was very impressive and was pretty cool on the little demo area. The PGS thing always makes me laugh and it did again on the track.

Some of the winch guys have some serious motor action happening. The speed they were getting on the back straight was awesome.

Hopefully the 4Runner that rolled can get straighten out

Ben's front diff is beyond repair, its parked out in my yard now.

Its bent up and backwards, sheared a u-bolt, bent both front springs and mashed the pinion.

yeah i have a couple of sad pics of the red hilux

i think they are mainly from stage 2 the one with jump in it.

I have about 900 shots to go through from the weekend, so i'll try edit through the lot and if any competitors want some printed up let me know or if your a competitor who liked the shot and would like it no problems.

I have heap of shots of people getting massive air on the jump laying sideways through corner or even bog whole shots.

With my prints i can have them printed up to A3 or A2 so if you want custom design let me know

well i had an absolute blast. I came 2nd in class and 10th outright which i am very happy about. the tracks were good and SS1 and SS2 were my favorites. the car drove fantastic and i was able to drive the car home

i had a few dramas for the event:
1. winch solinoid box died, so i need to thank Greg (bundyrum4x4) for lending me his solinoid box for the event.
2. coil lead fell off on SS1  fixed that with a cable tie to make sure it didnt happen again.
3. problem with wheel nuts and studs on the way home, but lets not go there :x

thanks needs to goto the Vic All Terrain CLub & the Gippsland 4WD Club for marshalling the event, they did a great job.

i like the sound of the mav of Kevin, mmm turbo. Also its unfortunate that ben and james had some bad luck, Ben was in my group behind me and was driving hard which looked great, didnt see much of you James.

i will be back for round 3 which i hear will be in febuary unless its held on the pajero challenge weekend.

if anyone has pics of my car (car 13 - black shorty GQ) plz email to peterbutcher@netspace.net.au or pm me to sort out something.

thanks

personally it made my day to see the 3 hilux based poor excuses for trucks break down, stuff up or roll. it was ace!

and good to see adam and bagsy come in 5th overall

it would also be good to see a challenging track, and a decent winch stage. since when was winching over a speed hump hard

the commentator did well although his info wasnt correct most of the time
he came up with 3 different names for bidders, and had not alot of an idea about engines

Apparently my car was on the track most of the day according to the commentary. Even while we were fixing it in the pits????

It was certainly more informative with a comentator than the first round without one.
