Yeah mate we blew a GU CV,Left rear trailing arm and rear pinion.
Paul the driver put in new cv in,whilst i welded and braced the trailing arm and welded the pinion back together. then finished the weekend.
Bloody awsome weekend..

Jamie - so much for catching up with you over the weekend. Only time I saw you was when you were spotting for Paul or just after when you were too busy doing the "did you see that when......." with your mates. There'll be a next time though. Good to hear that you enjoyed your weekend in the Sunshine State

I think the rear arm and pinion went at the same time. If not then at least on the same obsticle. I remember seeing it at the bottom of the course and saying to someone "what's going on there - that thing hasn't got rear steer".
Wasn't until later that I saw the arm. He did a pretty good job on it.

Awsum weekend bit dissapointing in the QLD entry list.
Congrat's to Sam another good drive and well deserved win.
There weere some good drives by every competitor and it was good to see a lot more cars completing the stages.
A lot of breakages as well but to everyones credit they patched the rigs back together and kept going. You would be suprised what you can weld up.
On the breakages we broke a rear axle and the front axle broke at the spline where it goies through the locking hub.
The night life was fairly tame we partied till about 3am. That was our air horn playing at 2 in the morning and I think that the Outerlimits boys were trying to cook cow patties for breakfast.

yeah the arm and pinion and cv went pretty much at the same time.
I think we supprised alot of people with the welded pinion.
I was so waiting for it to go bang in the 1st course and even more so in the last course on sunday.
But i guess you can weld just about anything,if in doubt drink more then weld it.
The patrol was running a GU front and GQ rear.Has been like that 4 about 12 months.that was the 1st cv.

Well for me it was a great event again although I think I was fairly fortunate to get away with the win and the points at the end of the comp definately didnt reflect how close the competition really was (think Dave has still got some more work to do on the scouring)
I won the first stage outright and hit one cone
Won the second also but SAM completed the course also but only hit one cone (and I hit 2)
I think i would have came 2nd in stage 3 where I hit 1 cone
And i think I came 3rd in stage 4 where I hit 2 cones
So the competition really was fairly close and Im sure that if the NSW guys didnt break so much shiat it would have been a helva lot closer.
The courses this time were very techical and just the shear length and width of my rig meant I was really struggling to not hit any cones. Most cones I was clearing I was only doing so by inches in most cases and if I didnt have my rear disconnect I would have plowed just about every cone down.
POS didnt stand a chance with his rig that is about the same size as mine with about half the steering lock and no rear disconnect.
I would have preferred the coursed to have been more difficult in terms of the terrain (meaning I wanted more big ledges and more steep uphill throttling climbs) but for the field of rigs that were their to compete the courses couldnt have been set any better to produce such a close competition.
Had a lot of fun competing and watching all the NSW guys bootie fab welding their broken shiat back together. I was really dissapointed that I piked early on Sat night and went to bed but I just kept getting images in my head of scott trying to choke down that bloody big worm at ASCC (IMO worms are the next step to the moth and grasshoppers of xrcc round 1) and I just didnt want to go there.
But anyway- I won again

i had a good weekend considering i had only got my zook drivable on wednesday night!
I have to say a big thanks to Jamie (Fourwheelin) and Sam from Overkill.
Jamie pulled the transfer out of his zook so i could borrow it for the weekend as my rockhopper still hasnt turned up, despite being ordered several months ago
Sam pulled the winch off his own buggy so i would have a winch for my zook.
Thanks very much guys, without your help i wouldnt have been driving
I was very surprised to pick up 3rd place as i had a shocker on the first stage and a not too good second stage. I had a good drive on the sunday though after playing with the tyre pressures and getting used to driving the zook a little more.
Sam and Tony did an exceptional job yet again, congratulations!

Hope you all got home safe!!!!!
I really enjoyed the weekend, it was great to catch up with the likes of Sam and Dave, Gonads and hypo again and it was fantastic to meet some of the others from the site! (Jamie aka Fourwheelin)
Well done to Sam for some excellent driving and a big WELL DONE to RUFF for a great SPOTTING job!!!!
Congrats to all the guys that made the trip up from down south, i was so ashamed to call myself a QLDer as there was only 3 of us there, this would have been one of the biggest disapointments of the weekend!
I must say that the TRACKS were a step backwards for the sport of ROCK DRIVING!!! I know people will say that the tracks cant have been to easy going by the number of breakages etc etc. However it is a lot easier to break on small rocks that you just keep diffing out on!
IMO stage 2 was about the best out of the lot, there was a couple of little climbs and some bigger rocks!
Stage 4 was very slack!
I hope that this will not be the way of ROCK EVENTS in OZ!!!!
I was often sitting there listening to the CROWDS response, the only time they got excited was when someone gave it some MUMBO or just crawled up a big ledge, NO ONE got REVED up when we were just picking our way threw the small stuff (VERY BORING if you ask me)!!!
To me it is VERY VERY important to listen to the CROWDS response as they will be the PEOPLE that make this SPORT grow!!!!! I want the people to go home thinking to themselves "HOW THE F#*& DID THAT GET UP THAT LEDGE" and "THAT IS F%&^&* UNBELIVABLE, I NEVER THOUGHT ANYONE COULD DRIVE THAT" and "THAT WAS SO EXCITING I AM DEFENTLY COMING BACK" not "i could get the pajero threw there" etc etc!
I Hope that the stages will become SHORTER and MORE agresive rather than longer with little pebbles that creates Dull Driving!!
In saying that i still LOVED the weekend (anytime behind the wheel is better than behind the desk) and will always be back for more!!!!!!!!!!!!

going by what i heard people say in the crowd, most people were in awe of the places you guys climbed. like that first climb over the cut down tree on stage one where sam broke his axles.
