From memory the gearboxes are the same but the diesel and petrol use different bellhousings

Yep different bellhousings, but a unbolt/bolt swap still. There are 4 bolt & 2 bolt engine mounts on diesels too, easy swap though.

Wiring for the swap needs someone with some electrical knowledge.

Don't forget a diesel radiator, hoses are on the other end.

Ryan you can bolt on a turbo to a standard tb 4.2 and run upto 160 - 180 kw at the rear wheels without any problems. Dont forget that you might have to upgrade your Gas system to handle increased horsepower. Extractors make a big difference to a tb 4.2 but would be a waste of money if you are going to turbo it. Get it tuned to run on gas and fit an upper lube kit you will notice a big difference.GQ's rock.

Marks Adaptors

Post by legsx1 »

Watch the MArks adaptors, just put a 350 Chev V8 into my shorty and had to true up both planes of the adaptor. The which bolts to the back of the engine was twisted. If you dont check before fitting it can cost you a lot of headaches later. Mine was the third one that I have heard of not being true

love the grave dig champ. thread is like 8 years old.

also i wouldnt even bother putting a 5l or 308 or any other small pos v8 in a patrol these days. ls2 engines are cheap enough and will make a 5l look like chit every day of the week.
