Just got home,..... plenty of people pissed off about bad management of
this event (some officials actually walked off in disgust.)
Having said that,....I didn't mind the delays,.. and can see what a nightmare
it is to piece together such an event.

Placings at the end of the w'end were close'ish at the top and I think
that the top three (from Sunday morning) took out 1, 2 & 3.
Awaiting official placings.......Dave.

Dont know about the result's all I know is I'm not going on a sunday again, autocross style events are fun for a little while, But when you can only see 20 sec of action per run with no real challenging driving the only highlight's were the macca's on the way in, the beer's on the way home, some good solid engineering in some of the car's, and the noise of some nice thirsty v8's. I tend to go to the rally of melb for my rally thrill's and spills, not the ateco. :finger:

The photographer that alot of people almost witnessed getting killed by a falling tree was the most intense thing I've seen in a long time

I really hope they get their catering need's sorted for next year. waiting 25mins for food in a line 15 people long is total horse shit :!: :x

I was speaking to a couple of other people on the way out and the feeling seemed to be pretty mutual among alot of the crowd. Definately wasnt worth the 4 hour round trip for us :!: (maybe i was just expecting it to be as good as last year?)

i did not like it at all, not enough action. i cannot belive how close that guy was to dying....... thats just plain luck.

i did not even see a winch come out at the WINCH challenge........
disapointing but luckily for me i travlled for 15 mins to get there others took hours and hours to get there.

Just got news from the boys:

1st - Peter Mihailof
2nd - Birdyy
3rd - Mark elliott

Apparently first two trucks were only 60 pts difference.
Also 2 stages were only run today. Started at 11.30am. Some truck took ages on the first stage, so officials (or whoever) decided to change the track.
Hardly any winching at all... yesterday was heaps better.

Nice photos... ive never had a photo turn out any good in that gully. The light is always different down there.

I agree on the food... waited about 40mins for a spit roast roll, that was totally pink (ie. had to throw the meat out and just eat the roll)

Ahwell, like others have said, today not as gud as other sundays that i had been too. Normally theres 2 or three stages running at a time next to each other, and there was always action as people were trying to drive/winch up the gully.

At least the weather was kind eh.

Deffinatlt wasn't as good as other years!

Was pretty good when it was going but when they were having managment problems listening to the uhf was funny as!

Thought i might have seen a winch come out! But i didn't!

The big rock hill was all there on it's lonesum with people sitting on it! Has to be brought back for next year!

Was talking to some guys in the morning when we got there and they turned out to be off here so that was pretty cool but once we introduced our selves about 4 more people came out and said they were from OL as well!

The guy in charge of the whole show was screamin over the UHF all day and was confusing every other marshel competerter and every one in the crowd! :?

I think the idea would be good if there was some heavy winching to seperate a few people!

Then there was the last loop...... After about an hour of nothing they started preparing the next loop! Every one thought they were driving up a hill and might need a winch but they cut that out so the people up there deffinatly let the organisers no what they thought!

As for the tree  !

Drove the 4 hour hour loop and all i can say is the last 2-3 years have been awsome and hope next year it will be back up to scratch!

Alot of un happy people and when one guy said something over the radio about it not being run up to scratch i wouldn't of delt with it how they did! Deffinatly not the way to deal with it!

BUT still i like the sport and there was some awsome trucks gettin around!

RANT OVER!

Hi all. Well what a day. Was meant to be four stages but things didnt start till after 10.30 with two stages only run side by side. There was basically no winching unless a mud hole caught u out, really a speed offroad course. A shame as we love our winching and I knew I would struggle as the hilux isnt a speed car and shit these victorians can drive. Its been a experience for us to see the level of competition down here. Any way we still had fun for the day and here is the final results.

They only read out the top 10 out of the 45 cars, dont hang me if I have made any mistakes, a bit hard to hear some times

1--27--1019
2--28--986
3--13--972
4--44--908
5--11--903
6--34--892
7--8-- 831
8--2--786 Spoonie and Mani
9--37--756
10--1--749 Mike and Ross

Spoonie got a 2nd in a stage and I got a 3rd in a stage.

We are both rapt to make the top 10 and being the only leaf sprung car in the event (with steel winch cable) makes me extra rapt.

Thanks to all the fellow competitors for a top time, and to all the officials who helped make a great event.

Time to clean up and have a drink or 5 with spoonie.

Cheers Mike

i was there also, had a blast lookin at the trucks but was amused all day by the uhf in the pocket listening to the VERY UNORGANISED EVENT..

i understand an event like this takes a lot of preperation and to all who were involved done a great job. except:
ohh.. Jonsey.
if you stop yellin at your crew and actually listen to them and get off ya high horse, people wouldnt have left in disgust and when people start tellin ya that the event needs improvment dont be a hero cause they arent comin back and most of us spectators were mad :bad-words: ..the entire crew today busted there balz to make today work and it sorta did but with many complications.but it was obvious communications were at fault. volunteers are not there to be spoken to like sh*t
without spectators there aint gonna be a sport!
and next year get that grumpy ol mole off the gate cause she was the most arrogant person i have ever met!
Ditto x 5.
This is supposed to be one of the elite events in Australia run by the people in the know CCDA. With all the big name trucks turing up, i have to ask did they use CCDA marshals surly they would know how to run it without confusion.

well i dont know about anyone else but i was confused with the stages how could that have been fair. people had run 3 times at one stage. :?

so i ask who actually one? who was compensated? and was there any competitors on OL who competed? whats your thoughts... cause i would have been pissed right off!

Sorry but I have to agree, it was the worst run event I have
spectated at :x

I went with another guy who had never been before and I
spent the whole day appolagising saying "its usually much
better than this , honest!"

I think it may have been run by a different club this year
than the last two years I've been.

lets hope it gets better for next year or it may loose its great
reputation.
Some good drives though and nice trucks to drool over.
What could possibly go wrong????

Anyone see that 60series with about 14inches of lift parked down the bottom today? Massive...

Had about 3 bodyblocks stacked on top of each other for body lift, and massive coils also..
