hi flex

Post by vanbox »

I own a GU ute and looking at getting a new 4in lift put in with the hi flex drop arms. i would love to stick to koni shocks, keen to get my hands on the new big bore ones, does anyone know if they have suitable lengths for these arms? i have 2in raised shock towers.

also, shane, lookin at the flexy coils, do you make them to carry loads? or would i be best with a heavy set of springs and compromise?

looking for the best of both worlds, do a fair bit of harcore offroad (38's) but also plan on using the ute for long distance touring

cheers

The flexy coils are able to carry the same loads as regular coils. I do have normal duty and extra heavy duty for the Patrol, Cruiser and Rangie so they are suitable for every purpose the regular coils are used for.

I have NOT tried to make soft super flexy coils but regular coils with extra flex so you can run 3" shocks with the 2" lift, 5" shocks with the 3" lift and 7-8" shocks with the 5" lift. We are probably looking at 6" lift shocks with the 4" lift flexy coils that are coming out.

I will be looking for a new batch of Guinea Pigs for the 4" flexy coils.

Nah, if I stuff up it is a big swim to replace them with new coils. I would give it a few months of customer feedback from a few guys who live on the east coast of Aus.

The design of the coils will be similar to the 3" lift flexy coils so basically the only thing that could go wrong is the front coils could be a bit too long or short.

hmmm, how about asking dobinson for a favour, when they do their next container load of coils etc for NZ, I"ll buy some coils if they throw them on the container for me ;)
Be interested in the results for the 4" coils, my 3" are pretty borderline for needing panhards, and the drop boxes were a good choice, so I'd rather go 4" in the future

Sounds like a headache to me.

The buy price for steel has gone up again so prices will be rising again in October. I will have to put my prices up this time.

As long as you can fit them in the Mrs handbag.

...but we are talking about GQ patrols here! They have 0% flex to start with so fitting the Super Flex arms is a huge improvement :D :D

I currently got a 4-5 inch superior dropbox lift kit in my GQ wagon with dobinson front coils and 6inch tough dog shocks running 35's. If I were to go with the superflex arm to suit the drop boxes would I need these flexy coils to suit the increased flex? I am seriously thinking of upgrading for the extra flex before I make my sliders and mud flaps as I will have to cut the back of the front guards to fit the 35's.

No you still get great gains in flex with the coils you have.
