At this stage there is nothing happening. Won't know anything until Rick sorts pricing out with his current gear cutter, or if he starts the search for a new one.
I have asked Rick to let me know when he has some more info re this.

for those with the 83% gears. what gear in low range would be the approximate speed of the original transfer? just weighing up the 83 or 43 gears.

cheers

you have a 5speed yeh??
if 1st is too low then use second or third

i dont know why anyone would want 43% :?

even when im in 1st low i still would like a slower gear occasionally, and thats with 4.88s.

maybe if you run 33s or something then 43% would be ok but for those with decent sized tires then 83% is the only way to go ;)

If the boodly search function was working I could show you few threads where members were saying 83 gears are to slow with 35s and group driving but they are great if you by are yourself and rock crawling. A couple members got that frustrated they removed their 83 gears and went to 43 gears but they were only running 35s. I am getting 43 gears for my 35s so its still lower than stock but I can enough speed for sand ,mud and group driving.
83 gears and 5th gear = 25-30klm/h
43 gears and 5th gear = 40-45klm/h

I had 4.88 diffs and 85% gears with 37's, far too low. I broke the 4.88 front and went back to 4.11, still too slow.

I have 43% gears now to go in and will put the 85% gears into the girls wagon.

If a 35 is 12% bigger then a 31 why would you need 90% lower gearing?
There is a TTC competitor running 40" stickies with 4.11 and 85% gears and it is still more then slow enough, and its only a carb tb42.

The group buy for the BBM Rockhoppers is a good thing, great buy. They give far better drivability and I would fit transfer gears over diff gears anyday.

It all depends on what sort of driving you do. I have 83% transfer and 4.6 diff gears with 37's and think it is a perfect combination, but I mainly drive rocks and crawl a lot. First is great for crawling slowly but if you need a little momentum you use second. In mud or on sand I would most likely be in forth or fifth. If all I drove was mud or sand then the diff gears and transfers would be too low but if you drive technical slow stuff you will like the 83% gears. All depends on your driving style and what you like to drive.

We drive rocks, ruts, big hills ect. Slow technical and controlled.

Maybe the difference is the turbo deisel to the petrols? I did notice the lack of torque from the tb42 I had compared to my turbo deisel. I will drive the TD42 from 600rmp, the TB42 was useless under 1200-1500rpm.
