Already tried...but you know what Chuck is like. He thinks that his Rangie on 36" tyres will be fine with standard gearing.

Now that there is 10 people, are we going to make deposits to MR for the gear sets to lock in the orders or how is it going to work?
I'm not in any rush but I want to get my VC out and the modded LT 230 in by the end of next month if possible.

Reply from Warren...
Michael,
Sorry the price has to remain the same.
As we spoke last time, if your blokes want to go ahead, just let me know .
They can send us some deposit ( say $500 ) and their intermediate gear.
It would help if they send their low range gear as well.
We need that so we can be sure what dog teeth the gears have (ie wide or narrow)

AFAIK the intermediate gear needs to be modded - so it has to be sent to them.
Micka, have they told you what the turnaround time is?

Is the deal done on the Maxi-Drive gears?
If not:
Any idea how much to ship to the States?
Could I just buy the gears and install them later without tearing down my t-case now or do the gear mods need a special machining.
I'm new to the forum and was drawn from the D90 list because I need to either lower my RRC diff gear ratios or use the T-case mod and that has some advantages.
Thanks,
Clark

Only if you want to buy another intermediate gear. The "normal" method is to remove your intermediate gear and send it to them for modification.
So if you buy an intermediate gear and measure the dog teeth on your low range gear then that should be fine.

Can I measure the dog teeth if I pull the t-case pan.
Does "measure" mean count the teeth?
Is the intermediate gear mod included in the price for the group buy.
Sorry for all the questions - I'm a tinkerer not a mechanic.

Sorry guys i should have searched but hay here goes.
What is the best way to find out what high range gearing your case has?
I have 2 LTs in the shed that are pulled down ready to rebuild and they both have a diffrent shaft and bearing setup to support the intermediat gear.
I have no idea what vehicle they came from.

Maybe one is from a defer and the other from a disco or rangie, i'm pretty shore the defender ones have lower gearing, not shore if there is any difference between the rangie and disco though.

All sorted as i found this on Ashcrofts site
http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_8.html#pa1
Has all the suffix and gearings on it.
It seems that one of the boxes is an early roller bearing type (needle roller)
CDB you should be able to work out your gearing of your case as so you get the right set done.
Cheers Nottie
EDIT click on technical facts near the bottom of the page.

Will the group buy Maxi-Drive gearset work in a 1.667 t-case?
It sounds like it is different than the 1.4 or 1.2 t-case gearsets.
Thanks for your response

I rang MR Automotive yesterday. They are waiting for all concerned to make a $ 500 deposit to lock this deal in.
As of today I'm the only one to make a deposit.
MR quoted me quite a good price even if this package deal doesn't work out.
Either want it or you don't...so cough up you bastards
