Mine is still going strong. I made a video winching up a steep hill that i got stuck on a couple of weeks ago (after the rain). I was intending to put it on youtube but decided it wasn't good enough.
I noticed Avenger4x4 are importing a new hydraulic winch with similar specs to the milemarker (same 6:1 reduction planetary gearbox, but smaller 180cc/rev motor compared to the milemarker 295cc/rev) hence it requires a bit more pressure @ full load, 2575psi compared to 1500psi for the milemarker.

The last bit of info I was given relates to a small pump manufactured by a firm called ZULA or ZOOLA - have not found it yet. Also, a company who manufactures power steering pumps for nascars, high loads and pressure, and very small pumps is another option, possibly KRG - still looking into this also.
Phil,
I think it is KRC you are talking about? This has also been posted up in another thread which is locally available from Locktup 4x4
- 1,600 psi of pressure at 4 gallons per minute
Another local option is Racer Import in Vic.
http://www.racerimports.com.au/ who sell the Howe range of PS products within their steering section.

the KRC pumps are great and top service from them in the usa i went direct to get myn thye went the extra mile to help me with a pump to suit my app
A 6'' v-belt pulley ,1500-1600 psi, 3.17 gpms
i highly recomend NORM at KRCpower tech help

Just found that Red winches are using the same dog clutch pump (from harrier fluid power) for their range of winches from pics previously. They have a few good videos on youtube.
I need to set up and mount my pump again on the BF Falcon motor i now have.

Raptor,
I installed a 12000lb Milemarker hyd with the build documented on this site a couple of years ago. Had the unfortunate need to use it last weekend and it operated perfectly. The track from campsite to main road is 1.4klm long. Its nothing difficult, but clay as slick as geased glass. I was able to drive 200m in total. The rest on the end of the cable with 20m pulls. Took over 7 hrs to get out, but it did it easily. No overheating detected with the oil. I run a second pump amd oil cooler. Only thing to crap out was the plastic hand controller selector button and the connector on the bullbar - since changed to SS plugs and replaced the controller with a Warn unit. Sorry, no video or photos. Big day out to say the least. Looking at a pump upgrade now to get a bit more speed out of the unit, and have changed the steel cable to synthetic rope - cable too heavy for stuff like this.
I will check out the pump set mentioned.
Phil

Sounds like you had a bit of an ordeal. 7 hrs to get out, blooody hell. Keep me posted on any pump upgrades if you go ahead with them.

Yeah,
had to winch twice going DOWN HILL just to get back onto the track. Also had snatch blocks on front and rear of vehicle holding the vehicle into the bank as we headed downhill. Two guys on the front rope and a single on the back. It was slow but we got the vehicle down without damage. I had the mud terrains at 12psi and have a Marks transfer kit fitted and twin difflocks, but, no friction, no drive! A day that will stick with me for some time. No interest in heading back down there until it dries out.

Need to re visit this thread.
I bought narnturbogq winch (the one in his GQ back a couple of pages) from him a couple of years ago and never hooked it up because of the engine conversion in the pipeline. Now thats been done I have been slack with getting the winch done. I have everything that andrew had (pump, winch, res, cooler) and its all mounted except for the pump. I want to get a new pump with an electric clutch. In reading the entire thread I was flooded with info but left me just as confused with what I need.
So I have a MM 10000lb which as far as i know is stock, comments andrew?
My reservoir is below the height of the future pump, is that a problem? I hope not, no where else to mount it.
What flow rates, pressures, etc should I be looking it. Im not looking to break land speed records, but a little quicker than a lowmount would be great. Also, I read that upping the pressure, ups the max winching capacity. My truck weighs 3t empty, so anything above 10000lb would be great!
Im happy to buy international, I just need someone to recommend some pumps and get some dimension specs so I can mock up to see if it fits! You guys think there isn't much room with a nissan motor!
Hopefully Andrew can maybe post up some more about what he has done, as its all jumbo to me at the moment. As someone else said, I dont mind spending the $$ I just want to get it right, reliable and work.
Cheers
PAUL

you will want the res boue the intake height of the pump, if it sucks air it will destroy the pump.

Paul,
The milemarker winches neeed 1500 psi of pressure to reach full pulling force. Any pump that can supply at least this amount will work. If you fit a pump that is rated to say 3000 psi, it just means that the either the cable or the winch gears themselves will fail before the pump ever does. (ie pump is always working well within it's capability) If you fit a press relief valve, (@ 1500 psi cracking) then this will save the winch in the event of a serious overload for safety.
If you want a fast winch with a flowrate of over 60 litres/min then you will need to fit 3/4" hydraulic lines. I don't know which pump is the most compact to fit, with the duramax in place. It's going to be tight that's for sure. Personally i like the mechanical clutch pumps with the dog clutch gearbox. You could have a cable or air ram to operate the winch then.
One thing to keep in mind (for the clutch pumps) is that if you have oil leaks on your engine and the oil gets on the electric clutch it will slip well before it's rated torque.

Bit of a grave dig. Great info in this thread.
Looking at getting one of the Runva 15K hydraulic winches for my Oka. Got plenty of room for a decent size tank, just need to work out which pump to use, and where, if possible to mount it on a 6.7L Cummins that's going in it shortly.
Just had a quick search for pumps to suit the Cummins, DewEze look like they make a kit to suit.

I have a hydraulic winch on my truck.
Not running yet, but when funds allow, a deweze kit for the duramax is what I need.
If a little pricey, deweze use the right spec pumps and has everything you need.

FYI, the kits for the cummins are just under $1800us plus post.

Here is my pump fitted to the XR6 turbo engine. A/c is now mounted beneath pump. Clutch is a serpentine pulley type.

Just spoke to the old man, who is a long term cummins agent and where the engine is for my rig, he says the hydraulic pump is driven of the twin piston air compressor and it can be a variable flow type, he mentioned Vickers brand. Will be doing some research on them now. Apparently my engine, was designed for the ADF Bushmasters (i knew that's what it was going into to start with) but though it was from a Ford or Dodge.

For those interested in hydraulic winch systems. Red winches have updated their webpage and now have a trydent twin motor winch. Pretty impressive speeds.

I just pulled apart my winch. Spent ages trying to get the gearbox apart until I found out it had a hidden grub screw which was potted and painted over.
I was surprised to see it has a cycloidal gearbox and not a conventional planetary. Heavy duty gears though.
