Ok im sold on the rear coils also

Im just curious about front coil conversion, bearing in mind i was gonna go the TG front set up, which involves crossover steering, new shockmounts etc anyway, what is exactly involved in a front coil conversion? whats easiest to weld in? Has anyone here done it?

I have just bought everything needed for $300 bucks. I just need to find someone in sydney to weld it up for me. I really need to learn how to weld one day.

There is more work in setting up a 3 link coil front properly than a leaf front so price reflects this, bout 5k incl. engineering as a ball park figure then add lockers, custom bits, etc. if you wish.

Mine came in at 6.5k, incl. sale of IFS parts, bundera 1/2 chassis cut, new air locker, rebuilt diff, custom radius arms, shaved and braced diff, new C&P & longfield CV's.
Some stuff I could do myself and the rest professionally done (e.g. setting up new C&P + locker to centre).

but again for the like minded as myself , it cost me 4k roughly to do my front end properly with a 60 series diff and it will end up being around the 2 mark for the rear after its finished and ticked off in the engineers book
what i cant see is why cant i put a surf tank where the hilux tank goes , the hilux one is just too long so the surf would work fine .. or cut a top corner out of a hilux tank if you like fighing with the engineer.
maybe becaust the extra cab chassie is tha6t little bit longer i dont know

Thought you could put a Surf tank in a leaf lux but not the other way round :?
The Surf tank has a recess in the top back section to allow room for the drivers side upper control arm & mount.

i think that will be the plan as im not too keen on running the tank at the back as its gonna hit the ground alot

im planning on running the surf stock tank and the 4runner long ranger. with 33's i dont have many issues with it touching down at the back (even with the low arb rear step) and for what i do with the vehicle (outback touring) the 200L of fuel is more important to me than rear clearance.
