The EFS 2009 Logan Challenge
Moderator: evanstaniland
Done and dusted came 3rd great fun didnt break a thing , had heaps of arguments, legs and arms wrecked, only broke a blinker on car, absolutly fantastic weekend, thanks heaps to Julie and the logan club and all the officials for a great weekend . Cant wait till next year to see what hell you can put us through.
And if it wasn't for the fat old Jeep driver in car three that they helped around the stages they might have come second...........
I can't thank our team enough for all the support you give me.

We came 4th, didnt expect to haha, what teams in the top 5 completed all or most of the stages?....
I dont know exact numbers but i don't think we completed 75% of the stages.
Next year needs less stages, there was no time to scratch myself this year, and some stages where everyone can spectate, and No 6:30 am starts hahaha.
But all in all i had a good time. Learnt a few things rah rah rah.

great weekend,we didnt expext a 5th place. as only having 2 cars for 85% of the comp & coping a large penalty for continuing on each stage(to be expected).... but jeez we had some fun..
Top effort,Top event to Julie/Shane the officials & the logan club..

top weekend
Yes it was a top weekend, for a team to come 5th with only running 2 cars for most of the stages [ it was a Jeep thing] and for the first time we have ever competed together man watch out next year.
Had top weekend with some great guys Thank you to every one in our team was great to be a part of the team. Well done to team Carnage.
Congrats to all the other teams that competed and congrats to Julie and Shane and all the Marshalls for a well run comp.
Cheers Dale

what a great event not real fussed on the physical exhaustion and sleep deprivation but otherwise awesome congratulations to julie and shane the organisation was fantastic getting all those stages organised and it actually being possible to do them all is just a fantastic effort, big pat on the back great effort. please next year not so many stages.

Im still not happy about having to give up my spot with team carnage due to work commitments. Work sucks when you hear about events going well and having fun.

I think the problem is if you do less stages there are more chances that teams will not be able to complete them all. You would end up with teams waiting around to get into the next stage which causes even more problems.
It really wouldn't be much of a challenge if we all got up and started at 10am did 3 stages and finished by 3pm would it
I was surprised on Sat as i had a team that at 11.30am only had 4 maned stages and 3 tasks to complete. But then i had other teams later in the day that were lucky to have done 4 maned and 3 tasks Managing your time is really important.

not a very spectator friendly event, considering the teams were having trouble finding the stages, if i had paid money to watch a 4wd competition and fronted up to logan challenge, having to scout through the bush and possibly wait hours between teams completing stages meanwhile missing other things, i would be pretty disapointed.
had alot of fun tho, some good stages in there, the log see-saw, and winching stages, dead car transport, and creative stuff like getting the tire and tools across the creek... some rubbish too tho, a 2 hour, 20 point gps orienteering stage needing to be completed in 6 mins per point. not really my thing, maybe for others tho

Exelent job Julie and Shane Congrats logan team well deserved win and effort, very drivable stages and loved every minute of the challange and best of all i didnt break anything Thanks to all entrants and most of all the officials who gave up there time to make such a great event possible see you all next year.
Yes as no, i hadn't competed or spectated aside from this year, i figured that the challenge was in the stages not completing them all.RUFF wrote:I think the problem is if you do less stages there are more chances that teams will not be able to complete them all. Some of the stages i found a bit "year 7 camp" style which in my eyes could be deleted In saying that most were fun, not everyone is going to do well and/or like all of the stages.
For instance the small hill drag style event could have been run fri night and under lights for all teams to watch each other and spectators to enjoy.
I still had a good time and will be going again.

I've been sponsoring this event since the late 90s and competed in it for the last 3 years - and it keeps getting better & better.
Well done to Julie & Shane and to all the other Logan Club members who do alot of the "behind the scenes" work.
Our team decided to pull out on Saturday night after the night run - a few mechanical problems meant that we didn't have a team anymore - so we were able to sit back on the Sunday. We still had a great time though - and will be back next year.

couldn't agree with that more, i would have loved to see the other teams and some of the really impressive looking/sounding rigs on a fast uphill kind of stage.berad wrote: For instance the small hill drag style event could have been run fri night and under lights for all teams to watch each other and spectators to enjoy.
for a night event under the lights that would be perfect
logan

Yes your really right there RUFF, & my main concern would be if I finished at 3 & started at 10 the event would cost me $200 more in alchole, as it was I only had time for 3 beers befofe passing out with exhaustion........
But it was GR8... WE WILL DEFINATLY BE BACK NEXT YEAR.
