The Xtreme is a steal at anywhere from $300 to $330 as I know what the import price is.

Nope this is definatly the extreme...

They reckon that they ordered too many in and r tryin to get rid of them...

what size tyre are we talking about for $195............

What is their number? I know people who will take the lot. Although it does sound a bit strange when only 50 tyres were distributed to each state...as in that's all that is available.

Around the $200 mark would be about a normal price

I can back that. I was quoted once on $260, and then $230 on the new extream. (EDIT) He was quoted $230 as well


However, isnt there some issues and problems regarding these tyres............ besides the whole 34" problem....

im in town tommora, and i will find out the name of the guy who quoted me that price ($230).

I will be in town as well, I might just do the same thing and see what happens this time.

they are already out and are bloody dear, over $500 per tyre if i remember correctly

And BRT, Colin doesn't have a set of Xtremes...I leant him one of my sets to race at the Mud Drags on Sunday. He ran JT2s for the first two heats and the Silverstone Xtremes for the last two. Needless to say the Xtremes killed the JT2s and Colin took out first place also for road reg vehicles.

In QLD...call Bob Hunter from Neta Tyres on 07 3266 7377. He is the Qld distributor and had the first 50 in stock when we were up to cover Mud, Bulls...

OK I HAVE SUM BAD BAD NEWS ABOUT THESE TYRES

I dont know if anyone else has checked there tyes or had any troubles but mine are goin to be replaced by silverstone and hopefully I have better luck with the next set.

First of all the tyre size vary alot two measure close to 35" one measures 34.5" and the smallest one is very noticable at only 34".
Secondly the tyre join in the rubber right at the edge of the bead has begun to tear, I was told to look out for this as I know of a fella who had two of these tyre very badly torn, the tyre that measure only 34" is loosing air at about 6psi per day I have found out that it has torn right were the bead is held over 3/4 way around the whole tyre (it is by far the worst tyre and most dangerous).

I am recomending everyone check and double check these tyre if you own them and I hope that I dont have the same problems with my next set I missed out on a set of 38.5" swampers because of this aswell

I,ve also seen some of these with flow cracks around the bead. they're not to only brand to have this problem. As for sizing, i wouldn't be holding your breath for anything but the 35's.

OK, I am a die hard Silverstone nut having been directly sponsored from Malaysia for over 5 years now....

My sizes are spot on 35, my beads are holding but I too am having leaks on two out of 4 tyres...I have reported this to head office...and am not real happy about it...

Sounds like Silverstone need to recall or go the way of Firestone did a few years back if someone has a blow out that causes a fatality

Interco aren't speed rated for use on Australian roads.
They are susceptible to size variation aswell. (Especially if you are trying to match up an old batch with new batch)
Don't get me wrong... they are AWSOME offroad.
Are the Silverstone speed rated for Aussie roads? THrough the entire range?
It worries me a bit sometimes that people get wrapped up in these aggressive bias offroad tyres, use them on road full time and don't consider these things.
It's all well and good to say Who Cares? But if a tyre is NOT rated for these conditions, they are more likely to have carcass issues with constant on road use. The heat from regular bitumen use will deteriorate the case integrity over time and you will get problems. This is why in a lot of instances these tyres are cheaper, they ARE designed for offroad use only and won't be such a problem if they are a second set used as such.
THis is not necessarily a fault of the tyre, more of use in an application it wasn't designed for.
That's one reason I like Mickey Thompson. They put the extra into their product to give it the strength and resilience for all conditions, and really good quality control. They have higher speed ratings - suitable for Australian roads, Fibreglass belts for higher speed use (basically with Bias tyres on road at higher speeds the crown of the tyre 'throws' or grows so that you are running on a smaller centre section of the tread...the fibreglass belts reduce this by keeping the footprint flatter.) Yes they are more costly, but I would expect that because the quality is there.

Ryano, some good points raised....

The Silverstones are dot approved and speed rated and come with the E11 coding. I have been assured via Malaysia that the new Xtremes are dot approved as well although the code doesn't appear on the tyre, which concerns me.

I'd be inclined to follow that one up Mudtoy. For them to be more applicable to most peoples needs I think that they need to be.
I know the Maxxis aren't rated (Talking to Ted from YHI who is the Qld ditributor) which in my opinion makes the tyres less usable.
For my own peace of mind, I'd want a tyre rated. Even if it's on for weekends up at Cruiser Park (2.5hr drive) or Rover Park (3 hr drive) and I drive there on them, I'd want them to be able to handle that. Peace of mind.

It's at the stage where the police look for things to ping you on and lets face it 4bys stand out. I know of four blokes that started out as mechanics/ tyre guys who joined the police force in Brisbane.... they know what to look for on vehicles.
I don't know, maybe I'm just a little podantic about some things.

I have to agree with going with the rated tyres is one of my concerns too although I am looking at unrated tyres for offroad stuff.

This is the reason I steered away fromt eh Gen 1 pedes, I was told they were only 'rated' to 120kph. Didn't give me the confidence and I went for the BFG's as I had them years ago and was happy with them then.

If I could only work out how to cart 4 FUGE tyres around in a FJ40 I would be happy. Trailers get stolen esp with 4 tyres in it. . . .

How are the silverstone extremes doing now? Have they fixed up their problems? Is there a website for these tyres?
