Looks good, sure it's not a bit too low?
Watch out what you put up there, it does get very hot in these compartments.

I live in Tasmania ! heheheh point taken tho, there is heaps of room due to the square design of the window/roof, I have had this one in place for years, just needed to clean it up and make better use of it.

Better off with a non-cd mp3 player with it skipping every 10 seconds due to the magnificent ride
Nah good work man, looks tight. About time I'm gonna fab myself an overhead console.

Well, the thing with an MP3 player is its multi spin ie: the disk spins and reads at higher speed than a normal audio cd, data is read off at a higher transfer (a tad higher requirement than normal audio cd) but buffered at a better rate than normal, even although cd in general is a bad choice for 4wd the Sony previously fitted was fine, combined with the fact I scored the new one off Ebay for $40 bux( as faulty) (did i mention I'm a tech !!
I might make a rough template if anyones interested ? very simple to make and fit well. I will snap some more pix when I get it back in.

No probs, its been up for the last 7 or so years... just a bit dull and useless apart from holding the UHF and the cd player, I have some 45 x 45 alum angle on each side of the door frame, and a mount either side of the mirror, its held up well so far. it also has 2 speakers eitherside of the player pointed downwards. The sunvisors close up against it neatly. Will put some pix up on my site.

After looking at all the F20 pics I think that I would rather have one of those than the Feroza (US Rocky). We never got anything from Daihatsu except the Charade and the Feroza for only about 2 1/2 years. What a shame!
What is the wheel base of the F20? Does anybody have any piccies of the F10, F50 & 60's for your poor deprived mates in the US?
Thank you for posting the F20...I like it!

Hey Kent, too bad you guys haven't had the old daihatsus in the states. Wheelbase is a tad under 80" and track 1200 mm just about the size of a cj3b. Samurais have about the same wheelbase but have a wider track. The f20's feel spacier though due to the boxy design, and it also is about 300 kgs heavier.
F20's F50's and F60's are pretty much the same cars except for the engines.
The F25, F55 and F65 are the pick up versions with a 106" wheelbase. They have other frames and axles (20 mm wider). parts are even harder to find that the swb F20's

And the pickup.. and my rig next to my brothers samurai and my dad's heep.

nice pics of the daihatsu's! i had no idea they came in nice colurs!
it would be good to get my hands on one of those pickups to build up for a comp rig cause the wheelbase on the F20 is just too short for that kind of stuff.
what is the wheelbase length of the SCAT modles?

Here are some pics of the interior of mine, different cupboards and compartments.
I've lined the roof in black marine carpet, the grade without the backing to enable me to conform the carpet to the roof shape. Used contact adhesive for the best results.
Shown is the cargo area with slide out drawer, side wheelarch cupboards, rear side overhead cupboards, top shelf between rear side overheads, front windscreen overhead cupboard, and centre overhead storage between the seats.

Custom guage cluster, I have a delux dash board to mount up, but I have to shape it to match the contour of the guage cluster.
Couldn't get any pics of the windscreen overhead compartment (just too much background glare), but you can imagine what it looks like, judging from the other pics.
I still have to install the rear door panels, ply and black carpet overlay.

WOW, that thing has more storage space than an airliner
Did you move the handbrake lever or did you build the centerconsole around it?
Nice touch, the spare fender flare in the cupboard. Always good to hav one. Mine are crumbling to pieces
Cheers

I built the console around the lever, 2 compartments - 1 in the front open top, the other under the lid with lift out tray.

Did you notice much noise deadening with the roof "carpet" ? mine drums lots.
