The vid link is down, anyone else care to host?
Bloody good work with the injection too! It must be so satisfying, especially when it doesnt run like shit and blow smoke when its cold.

still going strong. When the car is back together that is. It does nake a bit of a strange noise though but I think it is the air going through the custum adapter plate and makes a noise like a dieing seal
other than that all good

It got a injecter clean and the tapets set today but I am in the search for more hp. I think the time has come to turbo. Im thinking starlet turbo, I just don't know if the single injector is gunna put engough fuel in.
Im thinking I might have to put a second injecor in hooked up to a pressure sitch only coming on when boosting with a ajustable return line rstricter as well.

spot on rhett... have a look at this site
http://home.alltel.net/mcfly/tuning_fuel.htm it covers supercharging as it was reserch for when i was supercharging my tbi motor but turbo/supercharger same principle should give you an idea or two.
be good to see when its done!

I have picked up my turbo amd started making a manafold. I ended up getting one off a pajero import desiel. main reason is it should boost earler and its not water cooled= less pumbing. I think the waste gate acuator is set to about 6psi

dude its facing the wrong way..what is the reason for this?
also not sure a td turbo will work on a petty engine...
you need to remember that they spool up so quick on diesels as they have tons more exhaust pressure/ compression ratio than a petty.
not saying it will not work at all though but i think you will find it will take a while to come on boost...

the turbo is round that way to get the intake from in the cab. petty motor spools it up as im running 9 psi of boost. got it dynoed today. 30 rear wheel hp naturly aspriated and 58.6 hp with turbo at 9psi on 33's. I spose thats not bad for a standard block.

I thought Id dig up an old post as I have injected another motor with a mazda 121 throttle body. Done things a little different this time by trying to keep it simple as possible.
The Car
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild008.jpg
I turned the throttle body around this time and plumbed the water threw the the unit a little different
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild005.jpg
I also cut out a lot more wireing making everything neater
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild004.jpg
Im using the dizzy out of my yellow one as the engineer had not finished(or started) the next one

Now Im not the one to just have a car and not compete in events so this one is going to be my gymkana car so Im going to need some more power. So I started fabbing
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild001.jpg
This plate was not real fun to cut out with a grinder and hole saw
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild002.jpg
Bolted up to where is gunna go. Round the right way this time just for you Marky boy
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild003.jpg
And where it going to sit in the engine bay. When my header plate turns up and I make another manifold
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/ ... ild007.jpg
And becouse I couldn't make the manifold this weekend I painted the mower

Its a car I picked up for a few hundred bucks whacked some flares on and threw a 1.3 in painted then made front, side bars and rear rollcage for. I put it all together for the wifey but she thinks its too ruff to drive so It is another toy for me
121 injection.

Hey Rhett, hows the injection going? Last post I read said it was running rich and idling @ 1400rpm. Did you sort the mixtures and idle speed? Does it go much better? GOOD WORK buddy, Keep thinking outside the box! I'll copy your setup soon as it's a lot easier than LPG and has most of the benefits with none of the drawbacks (of LPG).

There are still drawbacks to this set up, one is that the fuel economy will never be what it could be running the mazda ecu as it's design for a different powerband, cam profile and bore/stroke. Also i don't think rhetts running an AFM or oxy sensor causing it to run rich (and probably lean when on boost)
Now a LPG with a turbo or pref a supercharger in the same motor would be a little different, from all i have learnt a LPG carb will displace 'x' amount of gas for 'x' amount of air so lets say 1 unit of gas for every 8 units of air. So if 80 units of air pass the carb will relase 8 units of gas.
If you pass 5 psi of boost through the carb it will still flow the correct ratio as the pressure from the tank will be much greater (unlike petrol carb which starts pushing it back up the pipe leaning out the mixture) LPG also doesn't need to vaporise so you get a much more efficient burn helping with fuel economy and power.
Just picture a lpg sierra engine with a toyata supercharger. Flick the swith for instant boost, turn it off for economy
no computer, no fuel pump or array of sensors like afms, ego's or crank triggers. Lastly it would be legal and no worries on defects
(You may even be able to claim the supercharger in the rebate)
Don't get me wrong i support rhett in his pioneering just think he still be going through a bit of teething

agree with you 100% have done the lpg setup with turbos and superchargers before...
Most gas systems will cope quite well with boost. Not to mention gas has a higher octain rating that fuel aswell. thus les chance of det.
I have never had a problem with gas and forced induction and would recomend it to everyone... Not to mention very easy and Cheap to setup.

I've thought long and hard about this and I'll be EFI not gas. I wanted gas but there isn't enough room and I'm not rich enough to have a custom tank made.(If it were LWB might be different).
EFI as suggested by Rhett is simple and cheap and will provide better economy than gas(distance per litre).
Motec assure me the fuel maps can be changed to suit any similar size engine.
An oxygen sensor may die in the bush but so can a carby float or needle/seat. Injection.... Yes please..

Mine is running at about 12-13/1 on the dyno. I was told 14 is optimal but Id rather have rich over lean with boost

I have heard of a resistor being placed in the oxygen sensor wire to trick the module. Does anyone know if this will help/work?

they sell them on ebay, apparently they do work..

the resistor just fools the computer into thinking it's running very lean so the computer dumps extra fuel. Not really ' tuning' . I suppose you could try various resistors until you got the right amount you where looking for as Dick smith sells them for 6c each but it is in know way the equivalent of the aftermarket ecu or even an reprogramed chip for the mazda ecu (which would be cheap for every other vehicle, just not the first)

so its been a little while, Whats going on with the turbo'd zook?
any up grades or improvements yet,

They are both turboed one runs great but the white one won't run hard past 3 grand. Other than building a low comp. motor for it that is about it.
