No wonder everyone is dropping their subscriptions.
Even the editor doesn't give a $hit about the sport.
He should be the 1st person to support this event, not bag it out.
Looking forward to seeing some footage on 4wdtv!
sounds like he still thinks he can make or break the sport with his magazine.
poor little pat doesnt have many friends anymore, in 4wd sport, publishing and the motoring industry generally.
I was there to see Smthi roll but left before Birdy's efforts . Spoke to Andrew at ONTRACK & apparantly Birdy done a bit of damage to his rig. Here's a couple of pics I got

Pondy mailed every 4wd shop and club in Vic. Put out media releases and had 4wdrives at the calder drags for 2 weeks prior.
There was over 2,000 spectators. For a first off event that is awesome.
Next one will be November. It will be one day for comp and spectators, the weather should be better and the tracks will be drastically improved.
For a first event it went off well considering the short notice, cost of the venue and the proximity of other event dates. A lot has been learnt and it can only get better.
For us the footage was fantastic (as you can see from the pics) and in a few weeks we will have a full special on all of the action. The only dissapointment for us was the lack of more standard competitors. These tracks are definately driveable (as the mighty Nankang Sierra proved on 31 inch tyres)...so next time we hope to see a broader spread of vehicles.
It was also hard to see Birdy and Smithi roll after driving so well all weekend. They were all fine but fell to very uncharacteristic mistakes.
Im keen to compete in the next one . Ive been looking at the ccda regs and am pretty sure Im good for trophy class but not sure if I need a roll cage. shane....
