Hi All
Anyone out there with a 3" spring lift on a rangie? Is there any benefit to having an adjustable panhard rod?
I have been looking at the QT services one but at $570 delivered to my door, I am now not sure it is worth it. They seem to be big in England and America, but no one in Aus seems to worry about it.
Cheers

You know Guys, Panhard rods should be parallel to the ground on level ground.
So the correct way is to lower the Chassis mount.
Any significant angle gives you corkscrewing on cornering and bump steer,as the axle moves sideways with upward or downward deflection..
I remember speaking to a guy with a 5inch lift on a Patrol. I asked him about whether the handling was weird, and he replied he didn't notice any difference! It had about a 15-20 degree angle on the rods.
I notice corkscrewing on a Standard Patrol.

I had Mal Leslie modify my standard one when he was doing my Highmount,
all up the mod was $150.00
So i assume any machine shop/toolmaker/engineer could modify yours. i can't tell you if it was a benefit or not as i am yet to drive mine....

I like your option Steve. I might just pick up a second hand panhard from the wreckers and get it modified.

AFAIK this is incorrect, panhard should be parallel to the pitman arm/drag link.

Both are right...But with only a 3" lift, I cant see it causing too much grief

Hi,
What PA said about having the arm parallel to the ground makes sense, but having the correct caster angle is probably more important. My RR has about 2inch lift (about 110mm at the bumpstops) and rotating the swivels to correct the caster angle made an enormous difference to handling on the highway. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Ignore my above comment...I found Whiteline. Fulcrum in Brisbane are a distributor. I can get one for $250.
