im up to the stage of doing the ignition with microtech ive been told three ways to do it
1 buy the andle drive from suzi sport which is not that good
2 use the 323 setup which i cant remember what to use
3 take top of the gti distributor and cover it with a plate or something
and run 4 coils
number three sounds good but i cant work out how you would get the pulse and how to work it all out

oh yeah you also need to grind down the pickup points in the dizzy, but leave the 4 big ones. should be in your microtech book, if its not i have a copy of it.

the distributor im runing has got four points allready the motor is a 85 model

'85 dohc gti engine?
i didn't think they had them that old, still i know anything up to 88 is a MK1 gti engine and that's exactly what the suzisport right angle kit is for, because mk1 ecu's controlled fuel only and the dizzy's had a vac advance. D&G also make a right angle kit.
(i guess the point i'm making is if you got an early engine it doesn't have a trigger like the newer engines as it works like a carby ignition set up)
Could you use jimny parts ?
I was hopping this was posible but i'm pretty certain it isn't a right angle kits are available for the 16v sohc heads on D&G website and when i inquired if they where interchanble with the dohc head they said no, each one was different
