Im looking into steering from V8 to 80 series diffs on a Fj40 running BIG tyres. which will give me best results guys??
I thought 80 be stronger but i have heard the shaft can twist?

I'd say i've done more leaking 80 boxes than 60's.

Dan, the 80 box only twists shafts because of the angle of the dangle due to 4 inch lifts etc...my mate did it to a 75 box aswell with 2 inch lift and 33 12r's....id say the 80 would be stronger...

as far as I know the sector shafts are all the same size from 60 series post 86 through to 80 series. late 79 series and 100 series had a larger sector shafts.

Like ruffy said I've seen heaps more 80 series boxes leak than 60 series. Twisted shafts are very common especially if the wreck has been in a major acco.

Hmmmm ok then. i might have to rethink. it sounds like both might be hassles.
if you were to be running them on say... 42"tyres what do you think the chances of survival would be?
