Sony CD changer to Alpine head unit

Post by Trusa »

My new rig came with a Sony head unit and CD changer. I was putting my Alpine head unit in and noticed that the plugs are the same for both Alpine and Sony CD changer however the Alpine unit doesn't recognise the changer. Has anyone tried this with success or should i just rip the cd changer out and be done with it?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Changer is a Sony CDX-737 and head unit is Alpine CDA-9857. When you turn the unit off the changer shuffles around for a second but that's all I can get it to do so I think you're right smiley_smoke.

Thanks mate, think I'll just get rid of the stacker. Let me know if you want it.

It would cost more in labour than a stacker to get it to work. Controlling voltages can be different. Plus the sony bus system is different to most others.

Thanks Rob, decided it's not worth my while. Was just one of those things that would be nice if it was easy.
