Putting the radiator in the back of the comp rig and running tube from the motor to the back...
just curious if the standard water pump in the 350 chev will be fine to keep water flow up or will i need to put something else in to pump the water around the system??

cheers

I can only tell you about mine.
4.2td ......water pump is fine for 4 wheeling but does over heat on the highway at 100 ks.
im using a crummydoor V8 radiator i think 2001 model

Ill read with interest other options as i need to change something to cool it

Might be work running a Davies,Craig electric pump Jeff. You can get regulators for them so you can infinatley vary the flow.

i'm lookin into the exact same thing i'm runnin a 350 chev in my hilux and was goin to mount the radiator in the engine bay which meant i woudl of had to remove my original water pump and just run an electric one but to save hastles i'm just gonna run a rear mount radiator out of like a turbo diesel 80 series as i am pretty sure they are fairly large. it'll have twin 12inch davies craig fans and an exp80 davies craig booster pump runnin from the inlet side of the radiator.
the only thing i'm worried abotu is that the electric pump will be running flat out does anyone think that the water might cavatate due to also having the engine driven pump? i'll just be using mild steel tube aswell(sorry for the hijack)

batcho, thoae davies craig fans have a running time of 4000 hours.... they do fail so keep a spare. just incase. im using mild steel aswell, so it doesnt bend if it gets hit underneath the car. i dont want to run an electric pump as its something else to fark up in the middle of nowhere with an expensive motor to consider.

oh tru i didnt know the fans only had 4000hr life maybe i should go with an au setup then the davies craig are abit pricey to carry spares same with the water pump. at least witht eh water pump if it shits itself its a sealed unit so hopefully the engine pump will keep on pushing coolant through.

If the water is pumping through too quikly will it return to the engine hotter than it should or is this negligible?

Ya Chev pump will push the water with no problems at all.

If your worried about it then fit an underdriven water pump pulley, the smaller pulley will increase the RPM of the pump, see a speedway parts supplier for one........
Also considerably cheaper and far more reliable than any other "aftermarket bolt on product' .... its a farken pulley so it WONT farkup.

Speedway cars generally run either exhaust tubeing or stainles zorst pipe as the "hoseing" for rear mounts then cover the pipe with heat wrap so they dont get a burn from the hot pipes.

Dont mount the top of the radiator tank lower than the highest water point in the motor ( radiator cap should be the higherst point )

Follow the simple rules and you'll be
