Im looking to building my own Long arm system for the rear of my TJ after ive minced the factory brackets.
ive been thinking that the rear lower arm of a GU are probably around the length i need......im guessing that they are about 700mm from eye to eye.
1. could someone tell the the length of the factory lowers the rear of a GU from eye to eye.
2. those with the snake racing or superior engineering adjustable arms could you please tell me how much adjustment there is.....ie 700 + / - 30mm.
cheers.

im assuming there more web wheelers like you.
nar......figured given that superior and 3rd's are pretty common now on many GU's, that there should be a few that have done the research before buying the product and would already know.

I can measure kine on the car if you like, but it wont be a precise centre to centre, it will be out a few mm's

mate that would perfect.
i need to get just a rough idea to see if the GU trailing arm length would be desirable.
if not then i'll look at other makes and models.......perhaps 80 series, etc.

Go out and grab yourself a Rubicon or Skyjacker long arm kit or something similar. You may pay more for it in the beginning but you will have a better kit long term, and you dont have to do the research and development yourself. We have done several long arm kits in the past, thay come with everything. Think about WARRANTY also.

mmmmmmmmm..............no i don't have that sort of money. besides im all ready sitting high enough, i just want to long arm or a-frame the rear only........but thanks for the reply anyway. And warranty, probablt not the way i treat my car.

cheers mate.....at this stage im thinking that i can use factory GU trailing arms for my 4 link lowers.....(im sure i can pick up a set on outers from some one who's already gone to thirds) and i may have to get the uppers manufactured depending whether i go with an A-frame or not.....leaning towards a frame so i can loose the rear panard.

OK, looks like the factory ones may be a bit weak.......perhaps not for a TJ as it would be half the weight of a patrol on them, however i may look at using 3rds production or superior engineering as mentioned before.
Edit.
just tried (again) giving superior eng. a call......are they still in business or have a changed their number from what is printed in 4WDM mag?

i think when i did mine i measured the offset at 30mm

yep i was told that one of the eyes is 8 degrees off, rubicon Express rear arms have one eye offset as well to allow for clearance around the rear diff axle mounting bracket.
im assuming there the same thing so i don't see it as a problem.......if theres a picture that someone has i could tell.

jeeps control arms are made from hollowed out pens....so anything else is an upgrade
I wont be using the factory ones.

It longer, thicker (6mm thickness for the second version) and are curved to improve ground clearance.

You could try to pm fatassgq as he works for superior and should be able to give you any info you need as he's got a gq & gu.
If you dont have any luck there try superiorengineering.com.au as they have most of there gear with prices.
Badger is correct, superior are always busy so keep trying as they almost always have the arms in stock.[/u]

those bent arms look rediculous. if they were on my truck they would hit there own mounts on about half up travel.

i got thought to superior engineering and i did talk to fatassgq....all good, prices are right, im just waiting of the 4 link brackets and roll cage clamps from the states (where jeeps are as common as dirt) before i start buying trailing arms / and fabbing up new cage brace and overhead console.
That drive shaft angle would have to flog out uni's

by ozy1
that shaft has next to no slip in the spline left and also, those unis will bind up within about an inch or so down travel, hell theyed bind bouncin over a speed bump,
