Just a quick question... does the air conditioner belt run anything else apart from the a/c?
My wife has rung me from other side of town to ask me if its safe to drive home tonight but without looking at the car I cant make a valid answer... Its definately the air con belt thats all I can say at this stage...
Weird querie but thanks

If its just the A/C belt that is fatigued and broken then you should be fine, there just won't be any a/c.
I can't speak for what else may be non-functional. Best to have a quick look if you don't know the how / why of exactly what has happened.

Mine broke on a trip. I had to drive a few hours before I hit a town large enough for a replacement (the only spare I WASN'T carrying
) and had no trouble.

No the a/c belt does not drive anything else.
If the belt has broken the only thing that won't run is the a/c.

you need to check the idler brg isn't failing, breaking the belt.
also if the ac pump is seized, you can't check this without putting a belt on and turning the ac on to engage the magnetic clutch

My AC belt has broken twice in the last 2 months during or after some offroading. The AC pump is fine but I don't think the tensioner pulley bearing likes 6000rpm. How do I fix it / where to get a new one?
