Hey everybody my girlfriend wants to buy a 91 swb pajero soft top turbo diesel 2.5 L, she has driven my feroza and didn't like the power shortage and was wondering how this type of car goes on the road and offroad. Also she doesnt know this but I plan to modify it once she gets one
what is the go on mods for this car, are they easily to mod and can you get lockers for front and rear or just rear.
Thanks guys

I have a 93 swb soft top v6. the 2.5 turbo diesel will be slower than your feroza. i drove one b4 i got the v6 and i have also driven a feroza of my brothers. basically they are an enlarged version of your feroza with coil rear suspension and ifs. you can get rear lockers no probs and arb are in the process of making a front one. springs and shocks are readily available but thats about where off the shelf mods stop. everything else like body lifts, suspension mods will all be custom. bullbars are easy to get, towbars are the same. Other than that they are an excellent fourby with medium capabilities. very comfortable on road due to the ifs and coils and they usually come with creature comforts as well. here are some pics of mine for referance.

They go ok but not a road burner by any means a 3.0 V6 goes much better in a shorty.
You can get an ARB rear locker and a front Detroit locker made here in Melbourne, the new ARB front locker will not fit.
Bullbars, snorkels, torsion bars, shocks, rear coils are all available aftermarket with a few choices.
Winches and driving lights are all generic.
Dual battery kits are also available.
Standard you will get on 33"s with a 2" s/lift combined with a 2" b/lift you can run 35"s with no probs.
You can crank the boost up a tad especially if it's intercooled, standard they run around 12Psi.
Also factory 5.29 diff ratio's are available for that rig (standard is 4.88 or 4.625).
Then there are the little things like cutting the upper bumpstops, extending the diff breathers custom stronger bashplates etc.........

Hi,
i´ve got a shorty 2.5 tdi and i´m happy with it. it´s not a racing car but it´s economic. in spain petrol is expensive so petrol 4wds are not so popular except for competition.
she has 40mm front and rear suspension lift, custom steel base plate, and 30" bfg ats, purchasing to fit 31" mts. Future mods: snorkle, bullbar, winch and a lot of etc.
Frank, do you think this engine can run tyres bigger than 31" ones?
Best regards.

Tom, I think 31"s will be ok................
Bigger than that is really a matter for the driver some people may feel with 32-33"s it pulls ok others may not like it.
My experience has been with a lwb 3.0 V6.
However I would expect a swb 2.5TDI with 4.88's to run 32"s reasonably ok going to 33"s you may have to look at 5.29's to restore lost gearing.
Frank.
