electric motor?

it appear where i have mounted my second alternator isn't going to work cause the diff will hit it i found these electric motors
http://www.oatleyelectronics.com/motors.html
to run the alternator under my tray which one would be best suited
i was thinking the sc300 but it pulls 15amps and because the alternator isn't a big one and its for my 24v highmount i thought it may pull too much
the sc200 i like cause the way it mounts (flat) and has 2750rpm
what do you guys think

Driving an alternator off an electric motor will use more power than the alternator produces.

but the motor im looking at pulls 11 amps at full load and these motors are for scooters and the like so if the alternater puts out 60amps won't i have 59 amps left?

no it wont work. You will use more power than you will generate due to innefficiencies and friction.
If you could get it working, you would be a gazilionaire.

my bad
what about other way around i get a 12v electric motor to drive the 24v alternator?

doesnt matter
Your trying to make energy from nothing,
You cannot make energy, you can only convert its state.
If it takes 100 killojules per second to drive thescooter motor, then an altenator is not going to be able to produce more than 100 kilojules of energy, even if both the motor and altenator were 100% efficient.
They arent 100% efficient, closer to 70%, so if you did as you are thinking, youd be wasting energy.

I just thought of one, maybe a pully mounted inbetween the pinion and flange?? I think i would prefer to put in under the bonnet though

How about a modified Turbo with the compressor wheel substituted for a pulley and run it off the exhaust? would it sound like a turbo V8 then?????

Any chance of fabbing up brackets (or both off the same bracket) to mount it above your other alternator? Don't know if it'll fit, just throwing out ideas.

I take it then that it has the standard alternator,my 6 has an 85 amp, yours should be similiar, what you need the extra power for and don't say winchen,Cheers Paul.

winchen
the second alt is 24v cause my winch is 24v and the rest of the car is 12v
but yes it looks like i will have to make a braket above my alternater somehow
cheers anyway

Anybody ever investigated mounting a second atlernator behind the first? i.e. coaxially?

Your alternater is plenty big enough to charge a couple of batteries, before you go and do all that crap why not chuck a couple of batteries on your tray in series, this gives you 24 v then chuck some cables around the passenger side to the winch go find a big hill, attach it to a tree and try it,realistically how long do you think you will actually be winchen for,not long. Your alternater is designed to pump out a lot of current as the car it came out of is 100% ELECTRICAL,my vt shit the lead on the back of the alternator and the car went 4 kilometers, then stopped . That alternator should charge a couple of good quality batteries reasonably quick,Cheers Paul.

ok my set up is 3 bat in total 2 in series these two run the winch i previously had the 24v alt mounted where the ac comp was but now my upper arm on the diff will hit it on compression the other bat i have is for the rest of the car and yes there will be a bit of winching involved as this is a comp rig
