hey all i want to do dual batts in my cruiser i was wondering is 8 guage wire enough or what is suitable for this project

Depends on the setup... Most solenoids only handle 100-200amps constant, so wire any larger to and from the solenoid may be overkill.
It also depends how far apart the batteries are apart.
I reckon always go bigger than needed, especially for ground and starter cable.
My ground I think is 2B&S, with my cables into the solenoid 8B&S IIRC. Batteries are next to each other.
The TJM setup that i know of, which can join batteries together for winching etc may need larger wires connecting them, due to higher currents being passed through the wires. The wire connecting mine is only use for directing the charge however and doesn't need to be overly large.

What's the maximum you'll be drawing out of it?
If it's only for powering small stuff (radios, lights etc) then charging will be the biggest amperage it sees. In that case look at the wire coming out of your alternator for a good size guide.
If you're pulling starting currents through it, then you need starter size cables.

Generally err to the largest size practical. It is not a question of how much current the wire will take, but how much voltage drop along the length that you intend to run, both for charging from the alternator, and discharging through fridges/inverters/air compressors/etc.
