buying a rangie

Hi Guys,

my old man want to buy a rangie, post 90 model V8

is this a good price http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/RAN ... 74774.aspx

is there anything we should be looking for and what suggestions for mods for a basic tourer, trail and sand work, nothing serious (havnt done much with the rangies)

Appart from the fact that have no idea what sort of condition the drivetrain is in....

cheers, I can check all that stuff out, but am not sure of any things rangie specific that needs checking, and not sure of what price is reasonable to pay for a decent example

Same as most vehicles, rust in floor/ sills/ a pillars/tailgate, put the transfer in low and check for major clunks ( most can be fixed by tightening the suspension bolts) steering box will most likely leak ,if it doesnt its empty ! Thats a nice looking car and worth a look, i think the only real costly problem would be either the auto or the viscous transfer as these are virtually a throw away job (VC). It would be a really nice tourer.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Seen that Rangie on there. There's a green 93 Vogue SE for $6K on carsales as well which is even better buy.

If I had no maxi's and so forth fitted to my beast, I would definatley be keen on both. I've owned a 93 Rangie in the past and they're a superb unit, even with air suspension fitted which makes the Rangie that much better.

Looks good, basically sit in it and feel for clunks and stuff.
Mate payed $13k more for a 96 P38 and boy what a POS, stick with a classic, great car

Hi, the Transfer case is great, just a few leaks that i'll fix for the RWC.
I've just bought a Prado, since i don't get off road much and the mrs's wanted something newer.
I'll be sad to see the Rangie go. Apart from a few small incidents she's been a great truck.
Do you want to buy it Matt???
