I`ve managed to source a unit from another car. I didn`t take it out, Dude is posting it to me. Mine is kilo and this is mph. I would assume whole unit with tacho etc is changed over. Don`t know how it will go with auto o/d warning lamp as this one is off a manual........although there may be provision for it.
Any tips or things to watch out for. I have the Haynes........Yeah that was a joke

I think the only difference is the faceplate. It is possible to separate just the speedo from the circuit board. I'm guessing that the reason your swapping is due to your Tripmeter not working?

Thanks Woop . I`m changing cos I can`t be doing with KPH as I`ve been brought up with MPH. You would prolly do the same if you had an MPH unit in Ozz. This unit has a difflock light. Does this mean when it goes on I`ll have difflock

Well wiring is slightly different on the speedo I got from a UK GR model and the Aus one with kilos . I have swapped out the speedo clock faces and will connect up and try tomorrow.

From memory...... the speedo is held on to the PC board with 3 screws--2 of these supply power, while the 3rd supplies the pulses to drive the stepper motor which in turn drives the needle. There 'may' be extra wiring for a seatbelt lamp. Earlier speedos had yellow markings and later types have white markings and green backlighting. Earlier types dont have seatbelt warning indicator.
