Stiff gearbox/heavy clutch behind 3F

G'day all i've done a search and could really find what i wanted to know.
The gearbox in my middy is a bit stiff swapping cogs and the clutch is bloody heavy! I'm not sure if thats just how they are or what. My other car, a nissan pulsar had a heavy duty clutch in it that snapped a clutch cable every year, but this is heavier and i think it may give my knee some trouble! Is there much i can do to lighten it up abit?
Currently the friction point is fairly close to the floor and when the pedal is fully depressed i can hear a constant nose from the hydraulics or something? Also the gears dont really crunch, 3rd sometimes feels a little toothy if you knwo what i mean but if i stop at neutral and blip the throttle the gears go in better, so i was thinking of putting in some redline shockproof light weight or super light weight gear oil, anyone done this before with good results?
cheers
