It would have been better if you were up against a Cruiser that has had some decent enhancements done to the suspension to even it up. My Cruiser has a 2 inch lift and way more suspension travel than that Crusier and all I have is longer shocks and tied in the bottom of the rear coils.
In fact my brother inlaws near stock Hilux would go further than that Crusier as it has been setup for it.
I think the A frame on the rear of the Rangie helps keep it supple and traction to the ground.
I would love to hear the response if you post it in the Toyota section.

They would all make excuses about the car and say that it was the drivers fault and then go on to say Rovers are crap. Usual rubbish from the usual bunch of people that can't say that anything positive about anything but a Toyota.

Ha ha I thought I would get a bight. I didn't say that the Rangie wouldn't still be more capable just that it would be a fairer match. The truth is I am selling the Cruiser to get an old Rangie again probably a 93 model with airbags, more capable again. I would still like to see it posted in the Toyota section as at heart I am a Rangie man.

Exactly...that's what happens - excuses and more excuses coupled with exagerations, myths and Toyota fantasies......
Having four different makes of 4x4 at home, including a Yota, I can make a fair assessment of all round vehicles performance, and the Rover D1 for its age is way ahead. A standard Rover will eat a standard Yota, Nissan or Mitsu off road - sorry but even when ardent Toyota cruiser owners witness this over and over and over, they simply refuse to accept it.

Yeah.
If the truths to be known, over most stuff it probably just comes down to wheelbase differences and line rather than the trucks.

This would also get the Toyota boys steamed, a D90 towing a 100 and a hilux at the same time
