Extended steering stops (again)

Sorry to rehash but I need a better solution.
I went with the extended bolt + retaining nut method and they just don't last. I bend them to meet with the axle tube as best I can but as soon as I come off a rock, the force exerted on the tyre just kills the steering stop.
Carnage pic attached. (Digi cam is busted so I scanned the bolts in my flatbed scanner ) Two sets here, the dirty ones ate it at NavTrac. Yes one broke off totally Grrr! The shiny set I just put in today and they've been in for about 2 hours.
There's gotta be another way that lasts longer than just 10mins. Does anyone have ideas?
