Yep thats right folks, id like to see picks of your custom rear bars, im keen on making one up so if ya all could share a few pics, that'd be dandy.
And yep, ive looked through a few other major sites but not everyone is a member of every site,
I posted this in the toyota section but it dosent really matter what make/model it is.

This is the rear bar I made for the wifes zook.

Its not the best pic but you get the idea.
It has Hella LED lights and a Hella work light for a reverse light.
Here is a pic showing the mounts and reiforcing. Its not going to move in a hurry

Jimbo, buy yourself a stick welder and practice, practice practice. Use 6mm steel and start by running beads down it,2.5mm rods, vary the amperage till your happy. I suggest you buy a speedy glass type helmit which will avoid welding flashes. The price of these has come down heaps. You might think it is expensive to setup, but think of the dollars you will save, Cheers Paul.

fully stock, even has the little plastic add-ons on the end (the part thats curved). damn i hate tongue tow-bars, seriously lacks dept angle, always the one thing i get hung up on...
bein thinkin bout makin one meself for the past cpl of weeks (only had the bus for 3 weeks...), and so far im thinking something simmiler to what nelso has, only with twin wheel carriers, altho looking at ferog's rig, i mite put those wrap around bars on it also... looks like it would offer good protection to the rear quarters(well whats left of them when iv finished the chop

hey now thats thinkin if ya dont have a recov point... id still find i drag it tho, so im just gunna fab up a rear bar with a reciever hitch in it, and have a recov point that fits into that, stops getting hung up and stops reciever from getting bent if i do hit it

Basic specs are :-
Main section - Box 75x125x5mm
Returns - 4mm plate - scored with grinder onthe rear and bent by hand then welded up again
Mounts - 50x75x6mm Box section with 6mm plate running into the frame
Carrier - 50x50x4mm box section
I think that's the main specs
Cheers

Be careful with this.. my tongue towbar snapped off the mounting brackets when I recovered a Rodeo from a big bog hole.

Not much detail, basically Jeremy (Surfection) and I removed the bumper, designed the corners, bent, cut and welded the tube onto plate, made some supports and bolted it on, sprayed it all white and topped it off with chequer plate.

Looks very nice Ferog
Are your number plates mounted the wrong way? Skinny at back - wider one at front? It looks different thats all.

Yep, the brackets were drilled to suit the wrong plate when i was getting the bar done, (I think Jeremy wasn't concentrating

Heres the one Brooksy from Custom 4x4 Fabrications made for me! I love it
He also built the same style for Nems 4runner recently.

Don't have any plans for it, Brooksy just made it as he went.
As for a price, I get mates rates with Brook, so your best off sending him an email for the price. They will be cheaper, stronger, lighter then any of the Kaymar or similar bars, and his work is first class!

Buildup of the rear bar can be seen here.

My homemade solution.
![Image](http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u266/JrZook/ResizeofResizeofrearbar005.jpg)
Complete tire/jerry swing away carrier, with narva ADR approved L.E.D tail lights (Altezza style)
The design uses a twin bar system, to try and elimate most of the wobble associated with many homemade carriers Ive seen. Sides are 6mm steel plates welded to the first bar. Should last alot longer than the std garbage.
Open rear bar showing the first bar which is mounted to the outersides of the chassie with bolts and crush tubes.
Tyre spear and jerry can holder
Now this is the 'tounge & catch' system used when the bar is completely closed to stop alot of the wobble thru the second bar.
Cheers Dan
