I have a Blitz turbo timer. When you work the engine hard you see the time go up and when you idle at the lights you see the time needed for cooling drop.

When I run on the freeway the time goes up at the beginning but after a while it drops down to the minimum time I have it set at.
Why does this happen?

It also has a temperature monitor on it.I'm not sure where it is reading the temp from.Anyone know?Instructions were in japanese.

Cheers

It should have an 'automatic timer' mode and a 'manual timer' mode.
It changes the time according to how the car has been driven.

"Blitz Turbo Timers work by carefully monitoring the load experienced by the turbo. Then, when the key is removed from the ignition, it notes that event and, rather than allowing the engine to shut off, keeps the engine idling for the amount of time necessary for the turbo temperature to stabilize."

Temperature probe will probably be on the unit.. giving in cab temp.

ok,but why does the cooling time drop off after freeway cruising for a while.Even when the boost is maxed it won't rise while cruising on the freeway.
When I stop at the lights or end of the freeway it will rise again when I go up through the gears.

Sounds like it is hooked up through your Taco. When going through gears it knows your working the turbo as the revs keep climbing and falling but on the highway the revs level out to a constant so it knows the turbo is not working as hard. Although depending on your set up it could be working its ass off at Highway speed but as it seams it is only going by revs then it has no real idea.

I find the more basic a turbo timer is the better they are. All the other BS they add is just a way of selling them to ricers.

Hahaha!!Cheers.Sound logical.

Boost is on about 6 pounds at freeway speed.
