hey guys mate of mine is looking for his 1st 4b and i've mentioned a rangie cos u can't get much more bange for ur buck than a old rover.
would it be better to get an older 3.5 strocker motor say to 4.3l in the 2 door version or look for a later model 3.9i. mainly looking for reliabilty and to some extent economy.
i know about the drivline problem they have just wondering about the motors and the less electrics the better thing?

depends on what you want to do, but I would go for a later model with injection. I have an 89 classic rangie with 3.5 on duel fuel and I get about 400kms to a tank of lpg never really tried petrol to scared. They are all good in there own way. Another option is an early disco depends on how much money you want to spend.

if he doesnt like electrics get the earlier carby version

chimpboy's efi thread also show's how easy it is to convert to EFI and not use 75% of the crap thats in the later ones.

well he's got about $6500 to spend and wants something thast reliable enough to take on trips and still capable.
got his eys on a 94 v8 with the air suspension and a few other add ons or a 76 2 door with a 4.3 strocker with a 4i lift and 33's.

are the 3.5 still reliable when stroked out and are they less fuel eficiant than the efi 3.9's.

are the air suspension models harder to mod up and more expensive. and are the nigly bits like electric windows likely to fail on the later model,
