Heavy Duty D2 CV's and shafts

Post by ashtrans »

Hi all,

we have been working on these quite a while and now have some samples, as the D2 has an open knuckle design we have been able to go much larger with the bell diameter from 92 to 104mm.

To reduce the stress on the inner we have increased the ball dia from 19 to 23mm.

The D2 has 24 spline at the diff and the small 32 spline at the CV, we have gone 24 spline at each end.

This photo shows the comparison of our existing HD CV inner with the new D2 one, please note the smaller one is almost identical (apart from the inner spline) to the HD Defender / Disco ones available in the US today from various sources,

The HD shafts and CV's will be a direct replacement for the stock ones, no mods necessary.

so these will be fairly toughter than earlier model ones? Dare i ask how much?

who's going to be the first to adapt D2 outer swivels to a 24 spline shaved salisbury and make the strongest rover front end yet.

That is a good idea Andy - but the 24-spline is probably the weakest link...

Btw - Great work Dave!!!

Dave what to you expect to charge for these CV's and axles? They look sweet to me!!! How does the torque capacity compare to your other rover CV's? I guess its all academic if the CW/P blows up first.

I had these in my hands at the weekend and they are even more impressive than the pics. Changed to D2 axles on the new truck thanks to Dave.
