v6 problem

Post by Lil pig »

Hey guys I have just put a v6 comm motor in my hilux and I am having trouble with it not wanting to run once you stop it after it has warmed up and try to start it again, once you do get it to run it wont idle and runs rough. Could this be the crank angle sensor. any help would be good. :D

Thanks
Troy

The crank angle sensor can cause this problem but only after the motor is properly warmed up. To check, go for a good run, turn the moror off, then try to restart. If it won't, poor water from a hose onto the CAS. This obviously cools it down. If it then starts, replace it. The water won't get into the unit as it is totally sealed. This problem will generally get worse and worse until it stops operating altogether.

Just remember that there are a couple of different types when buying a new one. You need to know the model of the motor and you will have to pull off the Harmonic balancer to replace the whole unit. This can be an absolute mongrel if there is little space between radiator and motor as you will need a puller.
