MQ/K 33's And removing sway bar

If any body is worried about putting 33's, Just did it last night, Not sure if car is lifted, If it is only slightly as this is how i bought it.
They fit under no worries (have no fiberglass guards pulled them off) Went for a drive to see how far i could go till they fouled the body, Not possiable could still put two fingers between front guards and tyres.
Went back to shed removed the front sway bar and went out again (AMAZING) Different 4by atticulation is as good as my mates GQ,
1 problem now she fouls the front guards and the little flap that covers the indicaters.
Push them down and roll the front guards i think it should be right or a body lift, she now goes where i thought not possable

so are you sayig you can only fit 2 fingers on the top of the tyre and it is touching the guard? Are you leafs on their bumpstops?

To tell you the truth i never looked at the bump stops, but before i took the sway bar out i could fit two fingers no worries front and rear.
Without backs still good got clearance but front scrubs, i'll go out tommorow and check where the axel is in comparsion to the bump stop.
As i'm on the cheap (the real cheap) I have been doing a far bit of reasearch on mods, At the moment i am running shocks out of the rear of a ford xf ute gives a lot more travel then patrol shockers and seems to drive real good.

Coils.. You want cheap. Ive done my MK lift cheap, 2inch body lift, home made. No sway bar on front,, Cheap ironman 2 inch over spring packs, BUT i ordered longer main leaves, Got the a fair bit of set put on the springs. Moded some 2inch extended 75series shackles. (4inches between pins.. Some super long powerdown 3 stage adjustable shocks, although i like the falcon idea,, (cheaper)
Have had trouble with the packs sagging because wanker i bought them off ordered them for a L28 not a SD33T, so i set all the spring again with a sledge hammer leaf by leaf and added 3 moe too the fronts. When shes all set and good its more than 6 inches above std. And flex it one of few spring under axels where i had to put more than 8 inches in the brake lines. I cab get 20inches between top of rear tyre and bottom of guard at full flex. Now the shcokies are too short, i think i can gain a lot more if a found really long shocks.

Rather then Reset springs with sledge hammer, try my method nice strong tree or lamp post place spring round tree and use winch to pull them round resets them good and much easier.

haha , thats awesome. I reset mine jamming them in the bullbar and then hanging the hell out of them.
next i got was "Hey.. you scratched my bullbar...!"
reset them nice though.
id like to see a pic of that log splitter in action though.

i have 33s under mine also, now that i have bent the indicator gaurds outa the way i have no probs cept the fiberglass wheel-archs, but im gunna replace them with rubber soon. gunna compleatly remove indicator flaps this weekend when i find a spare few mins.
isnt the flex amazing once ya dissconect those swaybars!?!!! and onroad is hardly affected at all wich is gold!

Yeah for sure, i could not get over how much better it went up the bush.
To make it even better i finally got throgh the bog hole i could not before bloody rapped, Same old story though it still catchs on the indercators and the guards so a 2inch body lift will go in before the Wonnangatta trip which was just decided

since it is now able to provide better flex, ther is more stress put on the u-bolts. When i took my sway bar off, i snapped one of the sqaure ones on the right hand side of the front axle. Its o.k though, they only cost $10 to replace them.

I posted the following:
I took mine (the swaybar) off a year or two back. Didn't notice any real difference off-road. But I did break one of the "square" U-bolts shortly after. Thought it was just old age creeping up (200,000 km) so replaced it with Nissan part. Shortly after that broke too, and its replacement also broke. Replaced the sway bar and had no more trouble. Co-incidence? I think not. Taking the sway bar off allows the springs to flex and twist more (especially after-market springs) putting extra strain on these square bolts which are not as strong as the round ones on the other side. The square ones crack in the corners.
The first two broke off-road, the last when on a trip down south. I didn't hear it go but the steering felt a little odd but I could not find anything wrong when I checked. The bolt had in fact broken at the corner as usual but was still holding as a "hook" bolt. The next day the "hook" fell out as I was taking a corner on asphalt at 100km. Nearly lost control and would probably have hit anything coming the other way if there had been any other traffic.
So now I keep my sway bar on.
And I also keep a couple of spares handy.

Don't know how you would not notice the difference taking off your sway bar, every time i went up the bush a wheel would leave the ground and lose traction, Without it the wheel stays on the ground a lot more and can get further places.
If you don't notice the difference your not going 4x4 ing, and should think about going up some better tracks
And as for breaking u bolts i'd rather take the risk due to how much the suspension is now!!!!

i would say that if David_S couldnt notice the difference without the sway bar in id say the front springs are that stiff it cant flex. possibly also why it snaps u bolts too as there is no give in thesuspension. I have never seen this happen n ive seen mqs cop some serious abuse for years on end. kinking leaf packs, tearing off shackle mounts and lots of other stuff but never snapped u bolts

Would but the missus would kill me she wants the car to stay neat looking as she has to drive it some times, So body lift it is know. It never stops once you modify one thing you have to modify some thing else to make the first thing work propley, what a pain
