Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Has anyone on this forum owned a unimig 195? im thinking about getting one to take over some of the arc welders jobs, but im also after something pretty cheap just to build some custom stuff like sliders and bars any thoughts? i can buy a new CIG 200 for an extra 100 bucks.

I've got a unimig 240,not real impressed with It,If I had my time over I would buy a cig Mig<Cheers Paul.

Yes i ACCTUALLY have a unimig 195 and i think once your used to the settings its not a bad welder. Problem is the shit torch you get with it and its not a euro fitting one its solid mounted. I would for shore go to the next size up which is the 220 i think and it should only be another $100. Alot of people have put down the unimig range but rarely can they weld anyway.
I have first hand seen a heap of very good welders turn out some awsome stuff with the unimig195 with an euro adapter and gun. A few who acctually can weld and do a heap of it will say that they are inadequet for production work. Whick id say is right as they are not intended at all for 40 hour welding weeks. But for the home hobby fella Id say good machine for a good price

I have had a unimig 240 for the last 4 or so years and its also pretty good. Must have put at least 12 x 15kg rolls of wire through it. I replaced the sleeve in the torch with a teflon liner after about 10 rolls and used it for alloy, and bought a new torch for steel. I have done serious welding with it such as rebuilding mixer blades using about 7kg of wire in one session, welded pre cut mezzanines almost continuously for 2 days, all on max settings. The tip gets pretty hot but thats the only fault. For the small difference in price I would get the 240 as I like hot welds, even in thinner materials like joining 3mm tube to 8mm plate etc. I have used it mainly on the high settings. That said I have a 32 amp breaker with massive line 3m from the main board. If I weld from a 15amp point It is heaps weaker like dropping 2 settings on the dial.

It has a euro fitting standard, binzel style tips etc. The digital display has one crappy screw holding it in and has moved a few times, requiring an open of the side and a loosen adjust, and tighten. Happened first trip home form tradetools.

It also has adjustable pregas time which I used often - a feature the migomag does not have.

I have given it hell and its has held up very well.

Ive had a unimig 210 for around 4 years now, It`s great cant fualt it, I got the 210 over the 195 becuase of the euro gun on the 210, Got it from trade tools for around $1100.

i've got the unimig 240 procraft series welder . i find it good with the electronic menu makes it easier to change and change back settings quickly. only thing i find is with a 15 amp lead and only a 20amp breaker it trips quiet easily on any setting over 5

when buying any mig especially over 175 amp call a sparky in and get a big outlet installed just for welding.

I have never tripped my breaker, with my 255 amp welder. I will check tommorow what size it is.

can't fault the unimig or migomag..... have both in the shed, trade series 255with RWF and 325s migomag with RWF... both have thier uses.. and with the plugs yeah ive only got 15 amo gpo's and 315 32amp gpo's in the shed fark these ten amp babies.
